Underwriting Data & Analytics Specialist

 

 

About the role :

 

As a member of our team in Bangalore, you will contribute to our innovation pipeline and be able to work first-hand with a strong and mature data asset and world-class analytical tools that give us flexibility to experiment and deliver impactful products.  

 

Key responsibilities:   

  • Understand and Translate business problems into actionable data & analytical products: Business analysis, ideate business requirements, do hands on Data engineering and report development to fast track the development and analysis, change management and roll-out activities. 

  • Support or lead larger initiatives and projects by providing support in technical (data engineering/analytics business (business analysis/requirement engineering) components, serving as a liaison between tech and business stakeholders.   

  • Support the Underwriting community in increasing data literacy and data skill sets. Promote and push user adoption of our product suites.   

  • Continuously improving our data asset with our tech counterparts. Enhance our data quality and data governance. 

 

About the Team 

 

Our Team – Treaty Underwriting Data and Analytics within Business Excellence-P&C Re Operations is a global operating team located in Zurich, Munich, Bangalore, and Bratislava. The key objective of our young team is to ideate, build and run data-analytics solutions in close collaboration with key partners in Underwriting and IT. 

With these partners we shape the future of data enabled underwriting, ensuring the power of data is leveraged at the right moment in time of decision making. Effective collaboration, transparency and agility are core values to us.   

  

About You 

 

You have a track record on achieving results and translating ideas into tangible Data and Analytics products individually and in a team. You build on your experiences, but you never stop learning about technology and the business environment. You can communicate clearly to different audiences and naturally bring individuals together across countries and functions. 

 

  • University degree with strong quantitative background in spheres such as actuarial science; mathematic statistics; physics; engineering; business or economics. 
     

  • 8 or more years of existing experience in data analytics product building focusing on insurance/reinsurance underwriting is a plus and insurance/reinsurance underwriting and actuarial basics. 
     

  • Data owner/custodian experience to continuously improve our data asset with our tech counterparts. Enhance our data quality and data governance.  
     

  • Proven Product Owner experience to create and continuously improve Data and Analytics products independently. 
     

  • Agile project experience with focus on data analytics project management. 

 

  • At ease in a modern programming language (e.g. Python, SQL). Previous or current experience with Power BI or other Data analytics tool is must. 
     

  • Proficiency in performing data analysis with Palantir, using tools such as Contour, Jupyter Notebook, or Code Workbook, is a must. 
     

  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, storytelling with Data, as well as the ability to focus on details without losing track of the bigger picture.
