About the Role

You will lead the pricing and controlling work for the China market and act as an important business partner for China's Life and Health (L&H) business.

Being one of the leaders of the China L&H Cross Functional Team, you will work closely with other L&H functions including Client Markets and Business Management to design and execute company's business strategy in China, enable business growth while being the first line defense risk manager. You play a key role as the market leader for L&H expertise, and influence market behavior and regulatory directions.

China is a key strategic market for Swiss Re Group and is in the fast stage of development, the challenge for you is to keep up with business needs, lead the pricing and controlling function in this fast-changing environment.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Manage the production and review of pricing bases for all lines of business
  • Maintain the technical sufficiency of all business written
  • Plan and monitor preparation and delivery of all new business quotes and tenders
  • Monitor and determine adequacy of pricing of all open treaties
  • Prioritize and undertake pricing/review of all treaty referrals
  • Develop and maintain strong client relationships
  • Build pricing framework for new product development activities
  • Participate in the development of new business financial targets and marketing plans
  • Liaise with L&H teams on pricing of business, including the Hub Asia and L&H Products centre
  • Lead and develop a team of actuaries and analysts

 

About the Team

The jobholder oversees a team of 10 pricing actuaries and analysts, and act as a leader of the Life and Health team in China.  The jobholder reports to Head of Life and Health Products China.

 

About You

  • A qualified actuary with 15+ years of actuarial experience
  • Strong strategic thinking, with strong vision of the business direction
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and influencing skills
  • Proven leadership skills and strong negotiation skills
  • Ability and courage to constructively challenge strategic business propositions, but also the business mind-set to be solutions oriented
  • Strong experience in both direct and reinsurance pricing
  • Deep understanding of local valuation knowledge and regulatory requirements
  • Chinese (Mandarin) language a plus, but not mandatory
