Head of Property & Casualty Facultative Andean Region

 

Join us for an exceptional opportunity as Head of P&C Facultative Andean Region (Colombia, Chile, Peru & Ecuador) in our P&C Reinsurance team! This position offers the chance to lead and transform our property facultative business in one of Latin America's most dynamic markets.

 

About the Role

In this strategic role, you will be the underwriting and sales leader for the P&C Facultative business in Andean Region (Colombia, Chile, Peru & Ecuador), with full P&L responsibility and ownership of client relationships

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and develop the P&C Facultative underwriting strategy for the Andean markets
  • Drive origination of profitable business while maintaining underwriting quality and preserving portfolio value
  • Develop solutions corresponding to client needs and promote innovation through new business solutions and products
  • Implement initiatives for sales and underwriting to position Swiss Re in the Andean markets
  • Supervise and steer the P&C Facultative portfolio in the Andean Region, ensuring underwriting discipline, portfolio profitability, and quality standards.
  • Manage and underwrite a small number of key accounts directly.
  • Approve accounts based on delegated underwriting authority and ensure adequate access to all relevant levels of authority across the team.
  • Ensure that product strategies and underwriting are aligned with Swiss Re’s risk appetite and philosophy, while maintaining compliance and operational excellence standards.
  • Maintain and develop strong relationships with key clients in the region, supporting team members in client engagement.
  • Implement and monitor local marketing coverage and effectiveness, aligned with KPIs set by the Head of P&C Facultative Latin America.
  • Provide quantitative and qualitative input into Planning and Forecasting activities for the region.
  • Ensure consistent and up-to-date product expertise across all Property & Casualty lines within the team, enabling the identification and capture of new facultative opportunities.
  • Lead and empower the local team, promoting professional development, technical training, and mentoring. This includes reviewing underwriting files, challenging account decisions, and providing negotiation coaching.
  • Enable and support local FAC Coordinators in their cross-functional client responsibilities.
  • Collaborate across business units and functions to deliver comprehensive solutions to clients.

About You

We are looking for a leader with a real passion for developing teams, who promote teamwork and cooperation across business units, countries, and functions!

 

  • Proven experience of 7 to 10 years in Property and Casualty re/insurance underwriting, including excellent understanding of the Andean markets (Colombia, Chile, Peru & Ecuador), products, and trends.
  • Knowledge of the insurance regulatory environment in the Andean Region.
  • Track record as a successful sales leader and dealmaker in originating new business
  • Management skills in developing people, being a motivational mentor who can unlock potential in others.
  • Fluency in Spanish and English, additional languages appreciated.
