Senior P&C Facultative Underwriter

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Senior P&C Facultative Underwriter to drive profitable portfolio growth, create new business opportunities, and strengthen strategic client relationships across the Andean Region.

As a senior member of the facultative underwriting team, you will exercise broader underwriting authority, contribute to portfolio strategy, and act as a trusted advisor to clients and brokers. You will work in close coordination with regional underwriting centers and cross-functional teams to identify growth opportunities, provide technical expertise, and support the execution of the regional business strategy.

The territorial scope includes Colombia, Ecuador, Peru, Bolivia, and Chile.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Contribute to the execution of the Property & Casualty Facultative underwriting strategy for the Andean Region.
  • Originate, structure, negotiate, and underwrite profitable facultative transactions across Property and Casualty lines.
  • Drive sustainable portfolio growth while maintaining underwriting discipline and portfolio profitability.
  • Identify and develop new business opportunities across the region and beyond.
  • Build and maintain strategic relationships with key brokers, cedents, and industry stakeholders.
  • Act as a trusted advisor to clients by developing tailored risk transfer solutions and delivering value-added insights.
  • Evaluate risk exposures, pricing adequacy, contract structures, capacity deployment, and underwriting conditions.
  • Review insurance and reinsurance contract wordings with support from legal and wording specialists.
  • Monitor portfolio performance and recommend actions to improve profitability and risk quality.
  • Conduct market analysis to identify trends, growth opportunities, competitive developments, and emerging risks.
  • Track regulatory developments and assess their impact on portfolios and client needs.
  • Collaborate with regional and global experts to enhance technical expertise and expand product penetration.
  • Support regional planning, forecasting, and business development initiatives.
  • Promote best practices and ensure compliance with underwriting standards, risk appetite, and governance requirements.
  • Mentor and support junior underwriters through technical guidance, coaching, and knowledge sharing.
  • Represent the company in client meetings, industry events, and strategic market engagements.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver integrated solutions and enhance client outcomes.

 

About the Team

About You

  • Proven experience of 7 + years in Property re/insurance underwriting, (experience in Casualty is a plus)
  • Strong facultative underwriting experience in Property (experience in Casualty is a plus)
  • Demonstrated track record of successfully originating and closing new business opportunities.
  • Deep understanding of underwriting, pricing, contract structures, and portfolio management.
  • Knowledge of Andean insurance and reinsurance markets and regulatory frameworks.
  • Ability to negotiate complex transactions and manage senior-level client relationships.
  • Strong commercial and market development capabilities.
  • Fluency in Spanish and English, additional languages appreciated.
