About the Role
In this role, you will act as a key underwriting professional supporting the profitable growth and technical excellence of the Construction & Engineering Facultative portfolio across Latin America. You will be responsible for underwriting Engineering risks, managing renewal business, and developing new client opportunities while strengthening Swiss Re’s position as a trusted partner in the market.
You will combine technical underwriting expertise with strong client engagement, contributing to portfolio performance through sound risk assessment, effective negotiations, and tailored reinsurance solutions. Working within a collaborative and matrix organization, you will support strategic initiatives for the Special Lines business, drive innovation through client-focused solutions, and enhance Swiss Re’s market presence across the region.
Key Responsibilities
- Underwrite Construction & Engineering facultative and facility business with focus on the full Latam market. This includes technical and actuarial assessment, wording review and negotiation with the clients for facultative business.
- Source new Construction & Engineering business by deepening relationships with insurance companies and brokers. Position Swiss Re as client's preferred partner.
- Provide competent and fast service to our clients, with advice, special acceptances, trainings and workshops.
- Drive product innovation by partnering with clients and crafting client-specific solutions.
- Contribute to Swiss Re's external visibility via market events, articles and social networks.
- Contribute to the implementation of strategic initiatives for the Special Lines business

About You
We are looking for a leader with a real passion for developing teams, who promote teamwork and cooperation across business units, countries, and functions!
- Graduated in Engineering (this is the preference, although BA, Actuary and Economy should not be excluded).
- Previous experience in underwriting (preferably)
- Previous exposure to man-made and Nat Cat risk analysis
- Knowledge of the (re) Insurance market
- Strong analytical skills and good proficiency with common IT applications
- Great teammate with high client orientation
- Fluent Spanish, Advanced English (For applicants in Colombia)
- Fluent Portuguese, Advanced Spanish and Advanced English (For applicants in Brazil)
- Availability to travel.
- Needs to master Windows Office package - word/excel/ power point.
- Flexibility and adaptability to work in a complex matrix Structure
- Negotiation Skills
