About the Role 


Reporting to the Head of Data Engineering, the Data Architect will be responsible for the ongoing development, maintenance and support of batch and real-time data ingestion processes for multiple relational and NoSQL databases, warehouses, data lake and the general data infrastructure within the Data Workstream at iptiQ.  


The Data Architect will possess a sound understanding of relational and NoSQL databases, database design principles, data modelling, SQL, and IT best practices. You will help us define the roadmap for and build the next generation of the data platform to support our core business and analytics needs. 


This position is based in Boston, MA. 


Key Responsibilities: 

  • Help set a tone of engineering and architectural excellence 

  • Handle the end to end development of ETL/ELT process from discovery, design, coding all the way to production deployment 

  • Address assigned tickets and deliver code in a timely manner 

  • Contribute to the overall technical roadmap 

  • Work with product and technical stakeholders 

  • Research and provide thoughtful solutions 

  • Identify dependencies and raise risks early 

  • Participate in on-call rotation  

  • Research and fix production issues and take initiative in identifying and solving problems 

  • Review code and approve pull requests 

  • Drive implementation of standards and best practices 

  • Collaborate with team members 


About You: 


  • BS in Computer Science / related field or equivalent experience 

  • 8 years working with common data engineering tools, structured and unstructured data management tools (Relational Databases, NoSQL platforms, Azure SQL, Snowflake,  ETL) 

  • Working experience with Microsoft Azure Data Factory, Data Lake Storage, Blob Storage, Automation 

  • Strong understanding of data warehousing, data marts and data lake 

  • Strong data engineering experience with expertise in building data flows, ETL/ELT, data warehousing  

  • Expert level SQL 

  • Expertise in handling both batch and streaming data 

  • Proficiency in Git and CI/CD processes 

  • Proficiency interacting with REST APIs 

  • Python expertise desired 

  • Snowflake expertise desired 

  • Data modelling experience desired 

  • Reporting BI tool experience is a nice to have but not necessary 

  • Experience working in Agile and Scrum environments 

  • Excellent oral and written communication skill
