Angular Engineer (Hybrid)

Are you curious how high-end frontend technologies can be used beyond consumer apps to make a real difference?

At Swiss Re, we build modern internal platforms used by underwriters, actuaries, and pricing experts to support critical reinsurance decisions—helping make the world more resilient through high-quality, long-lived systems.

About the Team

You will join a cross functional engineering team building a core frontend platform for reinsurance pricing and costing, used across Swiss Re's global organization to support critical business decisions.

The team delivers high quality, data intensive Angular applications with complex workflows and rich user interactions, working closely with backend engineers, UX designers, and business stakeholders in an agile, international setup.

About the Role

As an Angular Engineer, you will be part of a cross functional agile team contributing to the development and evolution of frontend applications supporting core business processes. You will work closely with backend developers, UX designers, and business analysts to implement well-designed, maintainable, and user centric solutions.

In a modern development environment, you will contribute to both new features and the continuous improvement of existing applications, applying established frontend best practices and gradually taking responsibility for areas of the codebase as your experience grows.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Build and maintain complex Angular applications with focus on reusable, maintainable components
  • Develop data-heavy interfaces with advanced grid functionality and document processing capabilities
  • Implement robust state management patterns and reactive programming solutions
  • Integrate with GraphQL and REST APIs through a Backend for Frontend (BFF) architecture
  • Implement accessible user interfaces following Material Design principles in collaboration with the UX team
  • Contribute to UI/UX solution design together with dedicated designers
  • Participate in migration efforts from legacy implementations to modern Angular patterns

About You

You're a passionate frontend developer who thrives in collaborative environments and enjoys solving complex technical challenges. You have a keen eye for detail, strong problem-solving skills, and a commitment to writing clean, maintainable code. You value user experience and understand how to translate design requirements into functional, intuitive interfaces.

We are looking for candidates who meet these requirements:

  • 3+ years of Angular development (v16+) with experience upgrading to newer versions, including standalone components, signals, RxJS, TypeScript strict mode, reactive forms, and Angular Material with custom theming
  • Advanced component development with typed templates, custom directives, complex form controls with dynamic validation, and Material Design patterns (chips, dropdowns, checkboxes, form fields)
  • State management using NgRx with effects, reducers, and selectors, plus GraphQLbased data access (and REST where applicable) within a Backend for Frontend (BFF) architecture, including error handling and caching strategies
  • Strong CSS/SCSS skills with modern layouts (Flexbox, Grid), responsive design, accessibility standards, and experience building reusable component libraries
  • Testing & DevOps experience with unit testing using Jest, CI/CD pipelines (Azure DevOps preferred), ESLint/Prettier, and Git based workflows

These are additional nice to haves:

  • Material Design 3 and large-scale Angular/Material upgrade projects
  • AG Grid or similar data grids with custom cell renderers
  • Docker containerization and Azure cloud platform knowledge
