Data Engineer

About the Role  

 

You will be working as Data Analytics Engineer, closely collaborating with the team and partners across the organisation. You will play a key role in designing, developing, and maintaining our data infrastructure and analytics solutions to empower data-driven insights and decision-making across the organization. 

 

In your role you will be responsible to:  

   

  • Lead data & analytics projects and partner with our business functions and senior management  

  • Design, build and maintain scalable data and ETL processes to collect, process, and analyze large volumes of structured and unstructured data from various sources. 

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand business requirements and translate them into technical solutions and data analytics workflows. 

  • Develop and implement data models, algorithms, and analytical solutions to extract insights and generate actionable recommendations from data. 

  • Ensure solutions are developed and implemented following standards, using high-quality code, focusing on simplicity, performance, and maintainability. 

  • Design and optimize data storage solutions and databases to support analytics and reporting requirements. 

  • Implement data quality assurance processes and data governance best practices to ensure data integrity, accuracy, and consistency. 

  • Research and evaluate emerging technologies, tools, and frameworks in data engineering and analytics to continuously improve our data infrastructure and analytics capabilities. 

  • Mentor and coach junior team members, provide technical guidance and leadership, and contribute to the professional development of the team.

While most of your peers and key partners are based in Zurich with representation in Bratislava and Bangalore, the team is composed of an international workforce based in different locations and serving a global customer basis.  

 

About You  

 

We are seeking a passionate person with excellent data engineering skills and expertise in distributed computing frameworks. 

  • Demonstrable experience working with CI/CD processes for data as well as data testing and monitoring. 

  • Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, SQL, etc. and experience with data processing frameworks such as Apache Spark, Hadoop, etc. 

  • Hands-on experience with cloud platforms such as AWS or Azure, and familiarity with related services such as AWS Glue or Azure Data Factory. 

  • Experience with data modelling and database technologies. 

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyze complex datasets, identify patterns, and extract insights to drive data-driven decision-making. 

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, being able to describe complex technical concepts and results in a clear and detailed manner to non-technical audiences. 

 

The minimum gross monthly base salary for this role is 2 600 EUR full time. Our final offer to you will be set up fairly, considering the skills and experience that you bring to the Swiss Re Group.
