Data Engineer

Want to build and operate a modern data platform while migrating from Oracle to Azure? Join our Asset Management Data Platform team as we evolve a mission-critical data warehouse into a cloud-native platform powered by Python and Postgres.

About the Role

As a Data Engineer, you will work on the design, implementation, and operation of data solutions supporting Asset Management analytics and reporting. Your work will span the full engineering lifecycle, from understanding business requirements and designing technical solutions to building, testing, deploying, and maintaining data pipelines and data products.

You will develop and optimise data models, transformations, and integrations using modern data engineering practices. You will work on a platform undergoing a full migration from a legacy Oracle stack to a modern Azure-based architecture, dealing with challenges such as data consistency, performance optimisation, and system reliability at scale.

You are expected to take ownership of your solutions in production, support deployments and releases, and actively contribute to improving engineering standards, tooling and practices.

About the Team

You will join a senior Data Platform engineering team that owns the design, build, and operation of a data warehouse and reporting platform, critical for Asset Management. The team is driving its transformation from a legacy Oracle stack to a cloud‑native Azure architecture built on Python and Postgres, with a strong focus on engineering excellence, automation, and platform reliability. We value ownership, clean design, DevOps discipline, and continuous improvement, while steadily adopting AI‑supported engineering practices across the SDLC.

About You

You are an experienced Data Engineer with a strong engineering mindset and a passion for building reliable, well‑designed data solutions. You enjoy working in complex data environments, take pride in code quality and automation, and are comfortable owning solutions end‑to‑end. You collaborate effectively in international teams and continuously look for ways to improve how software is built and operated.

Essentials

  • Strong understanding of data modelling, ETL processes, and data warehousing concepts
  • Solid hands‑on experience with Python for data engineering including at least one modern data processing framework (e.g. Pandas, Polars, PySpark)
  • Experience working with relational databases, preferably Postgres, including schema design and performance considerations
  • Strong SQL skills, including complex queries, transformations, and performance‑aware data processing
  • Experience building and operating production‑grade data pipelines
  • Hands-on experience designing and operating CI/CD pipelines with automated testing and quality controls
  • Good communication skills and the ability to translate business requirements into technical solutions

Nice to Have

  • Exposure to MSBI, Power BI, or enterprise reporting solutions
  • Experience with batch scheduling and automation tools (e.g. UC4, Tidal, Control-M or similar)
  • Familiarity with cloud‑native platforms, Kubernetes, or managed DBaaS environments
  • Experience with modern frontend technologies such as Angular
  • Knowledge of Agile development practices
  • You actively use AI-supported development tools (e.g. copilots, agentic workflows) to improve code quality, productivity, and engineering outcomes
