Disaster Recovery Technical Architect
Are you passionate about building resilient systems that can withstand the unexpected? Join us as a Disaster Recovery Technical Architect where you'll be the cornerstone of our recovery strategy across multiple cloud environments. This is your opportunity to transform theoretical recovery plans into engineered reality, ensuring business continuity when it matters most.
About the Role
As our Disaster Recovery Technical Architect, you'll be the technical authority ensuring recovery designs are realistic, testable, and aligned with declared RTO/RPO commitments. This isn't just about documentation - it's about engineering genuine recoverability across our complex technology landscape. You'll translate disaster recovery from theoretical plans into practical, executable solutions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Define and evolve technical guardrails for backup and recovery design across cloud, onpremises, and SaaS environments
- Challenge unrealistic assumptions and validate the feasibility of recovery time and point objectives
- Review and approve recovery architectures for business-critical services, identifying hidden dependencies and systemic bottlenecks
- Assess backup coverage completeness at resource level and validate retention, encryption, and immutability configurations
- Detect recurring design weaknesses across domains and translate audit findings into structural improvements
- Define technical quality criteria for DR test success, ensuring tests validate full data scope and real failover conditions
- Support large-data restore strategies for scenarios involving massive storage requirements
- Design data-driven validation approaches and build lightweight automation to detect backup and recovery gaps
- Act as senior technical counterpart to cloud platform teams and architects, driving improvements in recovery design patterns

About You

We are looking for candidates who meet these requirements:
- Strong cloud architecture background with mandatory Azure experience (multi-cloud experience is a plus)
- Hands-on experience with disaster recovery design and various backup technologies
- Proven ability to assess RTO/RPO feasibility and translate requirements into technical solutions
- Strong analytical and systems thinking capability with attention to detail
- Ability to constructively challenge senior engineers and influence technical decisions
These are additional nice to haves:
- Experience reviewing SaaS resilience and evaluating vendor recovery claims
- Experience building automation or scripting for validation purposes
- Knowledge of resilience engineering concepts and practices
- Experience working in regulated industries with strict recovery requirements
- Background in large-scale data management and recovery scenarios
