Are you passionate about shaping the future of AI at enterprise scale? Do you thrive at the intersection of business strategy and cutting-edge technology? Swiss Re is looking for a forward-thinking Enterprise Architect to join our Group Enterprise Architecture function in Bratislava —and help us build AI solutions that are scalable, responsible, and built to last.
About the Role
This is your opportunity to be at the heart of Swiss Re's AI transformation journey. As an Enterprise Architect, you will contribute to AI target architectures, delivery outcomes, enablement capabilities, and governance across some of the most strategic and complex transformation initiatives in the re/insurance industry. Whether you're shaping AI blueprints, guiding delivery teams, or driving governance frameworks, your work will have a real and lasting impact across our global enterprise.
Key Responsibilities:
- Shape AI evolution and target architecture by engaging with business areas and Domains on AI initiatives, defining use cases, transformation roadmaps, target architectures, blueprints, and transition plans
- Design end-to-end AI solution architectures spanning business, application, data, model, integration, security, evaluation, observability, and production deployment dimensions
- Translate business strategy into coherent AI architectures, ensuring alignment between capabilities, application landscapes, data models, technology platforms, and operating models
- Promote standardization, simplification, and reuse, including assessment of build-versus-buy, model, and platform options across value, risk, scalability, performance, resilience, and total cost of ownership
- Act as Enterprise Architect on selected AI programs and projects, taking architecture responsibility from strategy and concept through to implementation, production readiness, and operational ownership
- Review and constructively challenge design decisions to protect architectural integrity, measurable business value, and sustainable delivery
- Support program and project leadership in managing architecture risks, dependencies, trade-offs, integration, resilience, monitoring, and lifecycle management
- Contribute to AI architecture enablement, identifying enterprise patterns, gaps, risks, and opportunities across AI use cases and delivered solutions
- Apply and contribute to AI standards, principles, reusable patterns, reference architectures, methods, and pragmatic guardrails
- Drive architecture governance and Design Authority, including review criteria, review gates, quality assurance, compliance mechanisms, and constructive challenge
- Ensure AI solutions address Responsible AI, privacy, security, model risk, human oversight, auditability, regulatory, and enterprise risk considerations
- Maintain and enrich the AI inventory, using it to generate architecture insights, identify patterns and gaps, and support transparent portfolio-level decisions
- Collaborate with Domain Architects, business stakeholders, technology teams, and risk and control partners to achieve enterprise alignment
- Communicate complex architectural concepts clearly and provide fact-based, data-driven recommendations to senior stakeholders
About the Team
The Group Enterprise Architecture team works at the intersection of business and technology, engaging with business areas, Domains, delivery teams, and governance forums to drive meaningful transformation. The team is responsible for taking architecture ownership of AI projects and programs, while also providing enterprise AI architecture enablement, intelligence, standards, and oversight. Acting as trusted architecture partners to stakeholders across SwissRe, the team ensures that AI solutions are scalable, resilient, responsible, reusable, production-ready, and aligned with enterprise direction.
The team is structured into two closely connected groups: the Delivery team, focused on delivering sustainable AI value, and the Enablement & Governance team, focused on enabling AI consistently, safely, and at enterprise scale. Together, they form one unified AI Enterprise Architecture capability, collaborating to deliver complementary and high-impact outcomes.
About You
You are a collaborative, curious, and analytically minded architect who thrives in complex, fast-moving environments. You bring a strong ability to connect architecture decisions to business strategy, balance long-term vision with pragmatic delivery, and communicate with clarity and confidence across all levels of the organization. You are comfortable navigating ambiguity, building trusted relationships, and contributing to a community of practice where knowledge sharing is valued.
We are looking for candidates who meet these requirements:
- Previous experience in enterprise architecture, solution architecture, technology architecture, or transformation roles within complex, matrixed, or global organizations
- Hands-on experience designing and implementing production-grade AI solutions beyond prompt-only agents, including practical knowledge of AI/GenAI architecture patterns such as LLMs, RAG, embeddings/vector search, agents and tool use, and AI evaluation
- Strong understanding of enterprise architecture frameworks, governance models, operating models, standards, principles, reference architectures, and design authority processes
- Proven experience defining and delivering target architectures for complex projects or transformation initiatives, with the ability to evaluate AI technology choices across quality, risk, scalability, latency, resilience, reuse, and cost
- Demonstrated experience engaging a wide range of business and technology stakeholders, including senior stakeholders, with clear and compelling written and verbal communication skills
These are additional nice to haves:
- Experience with MLOps/LLMOps, AI security and privacy patterns, observability, model monitoring, Responsible AI controls, and production readiness
- Experience using architecture inventories, repositories, and portfolio information to identify patterns, gaps, reuse opportunities, and governance insights
- Relevant AI, cloud, data, security, or architecture certifications
- Degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field
