About the Team


The Subledger Controlling and Intra-Group (IGR) L&H team is part of the Global (Re)Insurance Accounting & Reporting Life and Health team which sit in the newly formed Global Finance Operations & Transformation Division. The team is split between Bratislava and Bangalore and is responsible for the quarterly financial closing for IFRS and Statutory valuation for our reinsurance entities.  The Bratislava team looks after the regions Europe and Asia.  The core mandate of the team is the closing of the technical L&H sub ledgers for all relevant valuations which includes external and intra-group (IGR) business. 

We are a high-performing team with varied strengths of ca. 80 team members primarily located in Bangalore, Bratislava and Zurich.  We work in a friendly, collaborative and lively team environment.


About the Role


We are looking for a hardworking, motivated and inspirational team leader interested in our core L&H business activities. Ideally, you will have an accounting or quantitative background and are interested or have experience in IFRS standards. You will lead a team of ca. 15 individuals in Bratislava and reporting to the Co-Head Global (Re)Insurance A&R.  Your primary responsibility is to lead and support the team in the quarterly financial closing activities for IFRS and other Local Statutory, including completing all relevant controls to ensure accuracy of the balance sheet and income statement. 

You will provide guidance / on -the-job training and also mentor junior staff members with regards to career development. In addition, you will also represent L&H in various local functions and working groups. You will decide and act with a degree of autonomy in practice areas with the delegated authorities. If people development combined with love for accounting is what defines you, we are looking for you!


Key responsibilities include:
•    Lead and support efficient and effective reconciliation process across all valuations
•    Review IGR figures and ensure that IGR accounting is consistent and compliant with the accounting principles (IFRS 17, 9 and Local Statutory).
•    Supervise the development and production of regular reports and analysis
•    Supervise and maintain control environment by reviewing, performing checks, investigating and supervising the data clean up as required
•    Act as contact for any process or control related inquiries for different valuations and for different stakeholders including internal and external audit
•    Supervise, train and develop the local finance team
•    Ensure trustful and open communication – lead by example
•    Work closely with other functions, including Valuation & Analysis, BU Finance, Global Carrier Management


About You

 

Essentails
•    Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in an Accounting and/or Finance 
•    10+ years of experience in a relevant function including people management responsibility, ideally in the (re)insurance industry
•    Knowledge of insurance and reinsurance products and features

•   Fluent in English, both written and oral

 

Nice to haves
•   IFRS 17 knowledge an advantage

The minimum gross monthly base salary for this role is 2 800 EUR full time. Our final offer to you will be set up fairly, considering the skills and experience that you bring to the Swiss Re Group.
