IT Production Engineer
About the Team
The IT Production Management team maintains the oversight and communicates the operational status of all of Swiss Re's production systems. When issues with a large impact are observed, we bring together the right experts in the different teams with the right information, ensuring a smooth resolution of the issue while providing clear communication to senior management and stakeholders. We constructively follow up on the post-mortem activities of issues so that process and system improvements are in place, reducing repeating issues.

About the Role
As an IT Production Engineer, you supervise the events, monitors, detection, investigation and analysis for IT Infrastructure and Applications:

Assessing alarms & critical events, with a particular focus on their technical dependencies and impact

Periodically determining and reporting on production health

Reviewing suspicious activities with Cyber Defence Operations

Contributing to assessments and review actions related to potential and candidate major incidents, critical events and alarms

Tracking technical change implementation, such as resiliency, monitoring or alerting improvements
When there is a suspected or observed degradation of production health, you provide overarching technical expertise, going across technological and organizational boundaries, for the technical fault isolation and recovery process:

Providing relevant technical insights, dependencies and technical areas who would contribute to the resolution

Identifying support teams relevant for the response and resolution and providing them with the technical details relevant for their areas

Orchestrating DevOps, product and technical teams in analysing and resolving the issue

Assist the ContactOne (particularly, the Service Desk) organisation in managing technical steps around the issue
Building on the experience and connections, you provide constructive insights for improving resiliency and technical foundations for operational efficiency. You support the ad-hoc quantitative and qualitative analyses to assess the health of the IT organisation. You track Key Performance Indicators, derive technical insights, provide recommendations, and contribute to the strategy.
As the team and the roles needs to ensure operational stability 24/7, the same role is posted across three regions (Americas, EMEA and APAC). In order to ensure weekend coverage, the role requires working on weekends/public holidays every 6 weeks.
About You
In order to be successful in the role, you need to have these technical skills and knowledge:

A solid grasp and understanding of how IT systems function in the hybrid cloud, such as the general structures behind compute infrastructures and databases, how they interconnect, how middleware and applications are structured, etc.

The ability to navigate technical complexity and heterogeneous metrics, alerts and logs, of thinking fast without having all the necessary information, identifying the right technical areas relevant for the problem at hand and approach them with the right information

An engaging communication style, be it for engaging engineers into resolving complex issues with severe business impact, as well as for explaining complex technical topics in a clear, precise and meaningful manner

Resilient in stressful situations, such as in long running, convoluted taskforces
For Slovakia the base salary range for this position is between [EUR 2,700] and [EUR 4,500] per month (for a full-time role). The specific salary offered considers:
- the requirements, scope, complexity and responsibilities of the role,
- the applicant’s own profile including education/qualifications, expertise, specialisation, skills and experience.
In addition to your base salary, you may be eligible for additional rewards and benefits including an attractive performance-based bonus.
