Junior Finance Specialist (Hybrid)

Envision working in an unusual accounting role where you get a front-row seat into how a global reinsurance business operates. You will own an end-to-end process for tailor-made reinsurance solutions — recording treaty details, calculating cash flows, and managing client statements including invoicing and more. Your reinsurance knowledge will grow over time; what we need is your curiosity and open mind!

About the Role

As a Junior Finance Specialist, you will primarily support Non-Traditional business activities while gaining broad exposure across accounting and reporting functions. You'll collaborate with diverse teams — from Pricing and Actuaries to Group Accounting — building a deep understanding of complex reinsurance transactions and contributing to a robust financial control environment.

Key responsibilities:

•    Gain a thorough understanding of transactions by reviewing contracts and engaging with Pricing, Portfolio Management, Actuarial, and Group Accounting teams
•    Ensure accurate financial ledger entries in accordance with deal structures, IFRS 17, and Statutory Accounting requirements as part of quarterly closing activities
•    Process outgoing payments and receipts for assigned deals, including payment instructions, bookings, and follow-up on overdue items
•    Provide clear transaction information to various stakeholders including Claims, Actuaries, IFRS 17, and Statutory Accounting teams
•    Uphold and adhere to the control environment, ensuring compliance and accuracy across all activities
•    Contribute to ad-hoc initiatives such as project work, system improvements, reporting, and analysis

About the Team

We are a dynamic, international team with colleagues spanning two countries — Slovakia and Switzerland. Collaboration is at the heart of everything we do: while each team member works with a high degree of independence and ownership, we are united by a shared commitment to achieving our goals together. We are a high-performance team that values trust, open communication, and continuous learning.

About You

You are detail-oriented and thrive in complex, fast-paced environments. You have a natural ability to prioritise effectively, meet deadlines, and adapt quickly to new systems and workflows. You communicate confidently — both in writing and in person — and bring a genuine willingness to learn and grow within a global organisation.

We are looking for candidates who meet these requirements:

•    Academic or professional foundation in Finance and Accounting — a Master's degree in Finance and Accounting, or relevant experience in an Accounting or Financial Reporting role
•    Strong understanding of financial statements, including Profit & Loss and Balance Sheet
•    Fluent English communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively across diverse groups and seniority levels
•    Strong analytical and data management skills, with the ability to interpret and work with complex financial data
•    Ability to understand and adapt quickly to complex workflows and systems, with a proven capacity to set priorities and meet deadlines

These are additional nice to haves:

•    Knowledge or understanding of IFRS 17 or US-GAAP
•    Proficiency in additional languages beyond English
•    Experience working in an international or cross-functional team environment
•    Familiarity with reinsurance or insurance industry concepts

Our company has a hybrid work model where the expectation is that you will be in the office at least three days per week

For Slovakia the base salary range for this position is between EUR 1,400 and EUR 2,400 per month (for a full-time role).
The specific salary offered considers:

•    the requirements, scope, complexity and responsibilities of the role,

•    the applicant’s own profile including education/qualifications, expertise, specialization, skills and experience.
In addition to your base salary, you may be eligible for additional rewards and benefits.

We look forward to your application!
