Life & Health Claims Specialist - Central & Eastern Europe (Hybrid)

About the Role

 

As a Life & Health (L&H) Claims Specialist, you will play a key role in supporting Swiss Re’s clients across Central & Eastern Europe, with a dedicated focus on Poland and Czech Republic/Slovakia. You will deliver expert technical guidance, assess claims within your authority, and act as a trusted partner to clients’ claims and underwriting teams.

You will contribute to Swiss Re’s value proposition by providing high‑quality claims assessments, insights into market developments, and support for business development and portfolio management activities. This role offers an opportunity to collaborate closely with cross‑functional colleagues and influence claims excellence across the wider Continental Europe region.

 

Key Responsibilities

Claims Assessment & Portfolio Management

  • Independently assess and manage L&H claims, including complex and high‑severity cases, ensuring decisions are consistent with Swiss Re’s claims philosophy and treaty conditions.
  • Ensure accurate documentation, data quality, and compliance with internal standards and processes.
  • Analyze trends and contribute to proactive portfolio steering.

Regional Focus: Poland & Czech Republic/Slovakia

  • Act as the primary claims counterpart for clients in Poland and Czech Republic/Slovakia, building strong and trustful relationships.
  • Provide market-specific insights on claims trends, regulatory changes, and operational practices.
  • Conduct focused claims audits, file reviews, and training sessions for clients in these markets.

Client Engagement & Collaboration

  • Partner closely with Underwriting, Client Markets, Actuarial Management, Technical Accounting, and fellow Claims colleagues.
  • Support new business opportunities by contributing to tender assessments, product design, and risk evaluation from a claims perspective.
  • Represent Swiss Re’s claims expertise in client meetings, workshops, and other training formats

Strategic Contributions

  • Contribute to the development and implementation of Claims Solutions and digital initiatives.
  • Support transformation activities and ensure alignment with Swiss Re’s strategic goals.
  • Identify opportunities to strengthen client value, manage risks effectively, and improve claims performance across the region.

 

 

About the Team

 

You will join the Continental Europe North – Life & Health XFT, a collaborative, multi‑disciplinary team spanning Claims, Underwriting, Actuarial, Technical Accounting, and Portfolio Management. Together, we work to protect Swiss Re’s L&H balance sheet, deliver value‑added services to clients, and drive continuous improvement in claims and underwriting excellence.

You will report to the Head of Claims and Underwriting –Austria, Central and eastern Europe&  Nordics/ Baltics.

 

 

About You

 

  • Several years of experience in Life & Health claims management, preferably in insurance or reinsurance.
  • Strong analytical capabilities and confidence in assessing complex cases.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to build trusted relationships with senior client stakeholders.
  • Knowledge of the Polish or Czech/Slovak L&H insurance markets is a strong advantage.
  • Proactive, curious, and comfortable working both independently and in cross-functional teams.
  • Fluency in English; proficiency in Polish or Czech/Slovak is highly beneficial.

 

 

Our company has a hybrid work model where the expectation is that you will be in the office at least three days per week 

 

For Slovakia the base salary range for this position is between EUR 1,800 and EUR 2,900 per month (for a full-time role).  
The specific salary offered considers: 

•    the requirements, scope, complexity and responsibilities of the role, 

•    the applicant’s own profile including education/qualifications, expertise, specialization, skills and experience. 
In addition to your base salary, you may be eligible for additional rewards and benefits.
