Senior Application Engineer - Python

About the Role

Join a high-impact team building a distributed analytics platform on Swisscom and Azure cloud.

You’ll contribute to the evolution of our Python-based compute grid and collaborate with quantitative analysts to deliver scalable, high-performance analytics.

What You’ll Do

  • Extend and optimize our distributed analytics platform for risk and valuation workloads
  • Build and maintain asynchronous processing pipelines
  • Collaborate with internal clients and cross-functional teams to deliver robust solutions
  • Contribute to cloud-native deployments and performance tuning across Swisscom and Azure
  • Support production workflows and provide instructions for adjustments

We are a small, international team of quantitative analysts and developers. We deliver analytics to internal clients across the globe, supporting daily SLAs and evolving our platform to meet growing demands.

 

About You

We’re looking for an experienced and passionate Python developer with a desire to work on complex financial systems who brings curiosity, initiative and energy

Core Skills

  • Advanced Python programming skills, including asyncio and multiprocessing
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Experience with RESTful APIs, RPC protocols and batch processing
  • Deep understanding of database systems: querying languages, transactions, security, relational vs NoSQL
  • Experience with fast in-memory caching strategies – Redis, Memcached
  • Long-term experience with Unix/Linux environments and shell scripting

Bonus Knowledge

  • NoSQL databases - MongoDB, Cosmos DB
  • Cloud platforms - Azure, Swisscom PaaS
  • Containerization (Docker) and orchestration
  • Authentication mechanisms – Kerberos, OAuth2, SSO
  • Financial instruments: e.g. options, bonds, swaps
  • Familiarity with risk analytics and valuation models
  • GPU-based computation
  • Understanding AI tools

For Slovakia the base salary range for this position is between EUR 3 800 and EUR 6 300 per month (for a full-time role). The specific salary offered considers:

  • the requirements, scope, complexity and responsibilities of the role,
  • the applicant’s own profile including education/qualifications, expertise, specialisation, skills and experience.

 

In addition to your base salary, you may be eligible for additional rewards and benefits including an attractive performance-based bonus.
