Senior Cloud Engineer

We are building a modern contract management platform at Swiss Re that is transforming how we handle documents across our organization. We need a skilled cloud engineer who can help us create and maintain the infrastructure that powers this platform. If you enjoy working with Azure, automation, and building reliable systems, we would like to talk with you.

About the Role

You will be responsible for our cloud infrastructure, working with Azure services, containerization technologies, and DevOps practices to keep our platform running efficiently. You will focus on automation and infrastructure-as-code to create reliable, repeatable deployment processes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop infrastructure-as-code solutions that ensure consistent, reliable deployments across environments
  • Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines that automate the deployment process and reduce manual intervention
  • Implement containerization with Docker and Kubernetes to improve application scalability and portability
  • Collaborate with development teams to create efficient paths from development to production
  • Identify and automate manual processes to improve efficiency and reduce potential for errors
  • Troubleshoot infrastructure issues and provide clear explanations and solutions
  • Implement security best practices that protect our systems without impeding development velocity
  • Manage operations for deployments, maintenance, backups, and updates with a focus on reliability
  • Respond to incidents promptly and effectively to minimize downtime and system disruptions
  • Share expertise with team members to elevate the overall technical capabilities of the group

About You

You are a problem-solver who enjoys working with infrastructure and finding ways to make systems more efficient and reliable. You value automation and look for opportunities to eliminate repetitive tasks. You work well both independently and as part of a team, and you are able to communicate technical concepts clearly to colleagues with varying levels of technical expertise.

We are looking for candidates who meet these requirements

  • Strong experience with Microsoft Azure services including AKS, Service Bus, Key Vault, Storage Accounts, Container Registry, Azure Firewall, and Virtual Networks
  • Practical knowledge of Kubernetes and Docker in production environments, including cluster management and container optimization
  • Proficiency with Terraform for infrastructure provisioning, with an emphasis on creating maintainable, modular code
  • Experience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines, preferably using Azure DevOps
  • Understanding of cloud security principles including identity management, network security, and secrets management

These are additional nice to haves

  • Experience with Helm for Kubernetes application deployment and management
  • Knowledge of monitoring and observability tools and practices for cloud environments
  • Skills in cloud cost optimization while maintaining necessary performance and reliability
  • Experience implementing disaster recovery strategies for cloud-based systems
