Senior Java Engineer

Imagine this: Breaking news on TV – a hurricane is approaching the US coastline and is about to bring chaos and devastation upon millions of people in the region!

You know that now is the time your work is put to the test: will your application scale out as designed under the heavy load of calculating the financial impact this storm may have?

The application you’re responsible for sits at the core of natural catastrophe simulation at Swiss Re.

About the role

In this role you would have the outstanding possibility to work on some of the most exciting engineering challenges the industry can offer. You craft and implement reliable, highly parallelized applications hosted on Azure, our public cloud hosting platform of choice.

In close collaboration with natural catastrophe experts, you understand their model algorithms written in Matlab. You work in a vast Azure ecosystem with microservices that support the development and distribution of complex data structures. You work with various calculation engines, including probabilistic, non-probabilistic and time series models, as well as algorithmic data manipulation services.

You lead the design and implementation of those algorithms in a highly parallelizable manner in Java and ensure a thorough automated testing of it all.

Numerous challenges make this work exciting. High availability and extreme scaling requirements are equally important as quality and security aspects. Do you feel up for it, then apply now!
