Senior Solution Architect

About the role

We are looking for a Senior Solution Architect to strengthen architectural and engineering excellence across our Product Area, supporting Legal, Compliance, Audit, Corporate Secretariat, Finance, and Procurement domains.

This is a senior individual contributor role operating across multiple engineering teams. You will partner closely with Product Owners and Engineering Leads to design scalable, secure, and maintainable solutions in a predominantly SaaS/COTS landscape with selected custom-built applications.

You will play a key role in driving architectural coherence, elevating engineering standards, and ensuring long-term system sustainability.

The role includes the following responsibilities:

  • Define and apply architectural guardrails across multiple engineering teams.
  • Work closely with Engineering Leads to co-design scalable, secure, and resilient solutions across SaaS/COTS and custom-built systems.
  • Facilitate and contribute to complex system and integration design discussions alongside Engineering Leads, providing architectural guidance and structured trade-off analysis.
  • Standardize integration patterns and promote reusable architectural approaches across the Product Area.
  • Ensure non-functional requirements (security, performance, resilience, observability, scalability) are embedded by design.
  • Conduct architecture and design reviews to maintain high technical standards and architectural consistency.
  • Identify and drive structural technical debt remediation initiatives across teams.
  • Support and strengthen adoption of DevSecOps, automation, and quality engineering practices aligned with global engineering standards.
  • Ensure adherence to Swiss Re governance frameworks, including architecture, security, data protection, and regulatory requirements.
  • Drive implementation of mandatory technology standards and enterprise guardrails consistently across the Product Area.
  • Partner with Engineering Leads to uphold high technical quality benchmarks and continuously elevate engineering maturity.
  • Act as a trusted technical advisor to Engineering Leads and senior engineers. Foster architectural alignment and knowledge sharing within the Product Area and contribute actively to the broader engineering community through forums, design discussions, and best practice initiatives.
  • Develop reference implementations and proof-of-concepts for high-impact architectural initiatives where needed. Contribute hands-on to critical architectural components requiring deep expertise.
  • Continuously identify simplification, rationalization, and reuse opportunities across the system landscape.
  • Identify and evaluate opportunities for AI adoption. Assess AI initiatives from an architectural perspective, ensuring responsible integration with respect to data privacy, model governance, explainability, security, and operational scalability.
