Technical Business Analyst

About the role

Are you curious to understand how technology can support the core business at one of the world’s leading reinsurers?

We are seeking a highly motivated individual to join our SPIRE IT team which is responsible for ensuring that our in-house application for reserving analysis and estimation (SPIRE) is effectively supporting our global actuarial community in their quarterly closing routine. This system is at the heart of Swiss Re’s P&C and CorSo business and key contributor to our quarterly financial disclosures. In other words, this is a very critical system for Swiss Re.

You will play a key part in supporting quarterly actuarial reserving processes on our newly developed cloud-based platform. Beyond the regular cycles, you’ll help drive system improvements in close collaboration with User, Application and Data Engineers, shaping how our reserving actuaries work with the system on a daily basis.

This is an opportunity to grow into an end-to-end business and system expert, balancing operational excellence with forward-looking enhancements that directly impact Swiss Re’s ability to assess and manage risk.

Your key responsibilities

  • Support reserving processes: Prepare the system for quarterly runs, perform reconciliations, and ensure accurate reporting.
  • Own quality and clarity: Maintain up-to-date documentation and deliver ad-hoc analysis when needed.
  • Engage with users worldwide: Act as a trusted partner for our international actuarial community.
  • Lead small enhancements / new features: From requirement gathering and user story writing to working with developers and testing features (including supporting user testing).
  • Collaborate across IT and business: Work closely with engineers to identify improvements that make the system more robust, scalable, and user-friendly.

About you

We’re looking for a proactive and curious Business Analyst who thrives on solving problems and improving processes. If you enjoy translating business needs into technical solutions and working in a collaborative, international environment, you’ll be a great fit.

You bring:

  • Analytical mindset & problem-solving skills, with the ability to break down complexity into clear solutions using AI in your daily work
  • SQL skills, and interest in working with cloud-based data platforms (Azure Databricks, Azure SQL Server, Azure Synapse).
  • Experience in IT project work, ideally in an agile environment.
  • Business analysis know-how with tools like Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Wiki.
  • A quick learner who enjoys exploring new technologies and domains.
  • Nice to have: Python or R, PowerBI experience, knowledge of accounting, insurance, or actuarial processes.

What we offer

  • A critical role in supporting and improving a global system at the core of Swiss Re’s risk management.
  • Exposure to modern cloud technologies and cross-disciplinary collaboration.
  • A supportive, international culture that encourages continuous learning and professional growth.
  • Attractive compensation and benefits, including a competitive base salary and performance-based bonus.

For Slovakia the base salary range for this position is between EUR 2,200 and EUR 3,700 per month (for a full-time role). The specific salary offered considers:
