About the Programme
We are looking for graduates with strong interpersonal skills, who are eager to learn and broaden their knowledge and expertise. You have a Bachelor, Master or PhD degree with up to 3 years professional experience – we invite you to apply to our graduates@swissre programme 2021.


The programme offers you the chance to join the dynamic, fast-moving world of a leading risk knowledge organisation. Over an 18-month period, you’ll receive on-and-off-the-job training, including a job rotation that gives you the opportunity to work across different business units.

 

About the role
As our graduate you will be a member of the Reinsurance Middle East & Africa division and work in the Property & Casualty (P&C) Client Markets team responsible for the Southern Africa region. The team is actively seeking opportunities to growth our P&C business in Southern Africa by levering our global resources, risk modelling, capital strength and expertise to differentiate us from the competition. You will report directly to the Head P&C Southern Africa and support us in our commitment to establish long-term partnerships with our clients/brokers and to provide world-class solutions to their changing needs. You will learn about Swiss Re's standard but also state of the art reinsurance products.


Together with Regional Managers and in close cooperation with an international cross-functional team of underwriters, actuaries and other units (e.g. Risk Management, Technical Accounting) you will engage and steer SR's full capabilities towards the development of the best solutions for clients. With your excellent interpersonal and analytical skills you gain a deep understanding of the needs and of Swiss Re's clients and you will become an accepted discussion partner for them. In addition, you will support and contribute to the annual renewal discussions with clients and brokers with the aim to beat our ambitious plans. You will excel in your Graduate related tasks and use your insights gained during your various training phases and rotation to support your team and our vision.

 

About You

  •    Successfully completed university degree, preferably in a quantitative study field (i.e. Actuarial Sciences, Statistics/Quants Mathematics), Natural Sciences or equivalent
  •     First re/insurance experiences gained through vacation work or internships is an advantage
  •    Strong interest in/motivation to learn about insurance/reinsurance
  •    Strong communication and presentation skills
  •    Approaches problems with curiosity and open-mindedness, is a fast learner
  •    Innovative, showing a high degree of own initiative
  •    Team-player, willingness to contribute actively to the overall team spirit
  •    Ability and enthusiasm to work in a global and multicultural environment
  •    Aptitude to express him-/herself effectively in one-on-one conversations and small groups
  •    Mature & self-confident; Able to work with clients, business partners or senior colleagues
  •    Capacity to readily adapt to a changing and dynamic environment
  •    Proficiency in MS Office applications (Excel, PowerPoint, Word
