Marketing Actuarial Graduate

Over an 18-month period, you’ll receive on-and-off-the-job training, including a job rotation that gives you the opportunity to work across different business units. About the Role

 

We are looking for an intellectually curious, highly motivated and passionate Graduate to join our Life & Health (L&H) Client Markets Team in Cape Town. You will play an important role in the pricing of life & health business as well as in the development and design of products and services to meet our client's needs.

 

You will support us in providing high quality actuarial input to both clients and the cross-functional team within Swiss Re. Through great teamwork and collaboration you will gain a deep understanding of the L&H reinsurance market, you will learn about our various products, how we do pricing and how to sign off quotes from a technical standpoint. We will also give you the opportunity to participate and contribute to projects as well as to the development of innovative, market leading reinsurance solutions that are relevant to the wider Swiss Re Group.  

 

Specific responsibilities of this role include but are not limited to the following:


-    Support Senior Client Managers with new business development and work with specialists to bring Swiss Re's solutions to the clients
-    Support the day-to-day pricing work across different lines of business in the target markets 
-    Perform analysis on data relating to emerging risk experience
-    Contribute to the design of insurance products consistent with the pricing basis and risk management environment
-    Provide quotes to clients, specifically with group risk benefits
-    Collect, analyse and present data collected for annual industry-wide surveys.

 

About the Team 


The Client Markets team is tasked with delivering Swiss Re's reinsurance solutions to clients; setting strategy and ensuring effective communications between the members of cross-functional account teams to execute strategy. We are looking for a highly motivated and enthusiastic team member to join the group.

You have: 
•    Successfully completed university degree in Actuarial Sciences or equivalent 
•    Minimum of 5 Actuarial Exemptions obtained 
•    Proficiency in MS Office applications (Excel, PowerPoint, Word)

 

It will be also nice to have: 
•    Re/insurance experiences gained through vacation work or internships is an advantage
•    Proficiency in programming languages (e.g. R) is an advantage
