Claims Expert

About the Role:

Are you experienced in the handling of directors and officers liability claims? Do you embrace the challenge of handling complex claims while providing market leading customer service? This is a rare opportunity for a dedicated professional to join our dynamic US Financial Lines Claims team with the backing of Swiss Re's strong industry reputation.

We are seeking an experienced claims professional with a real passion for providing exceptional customer service. Employing excellent adjudications skills, you will independently handle financial lines claims from first notice to resolution while also working closely with the underwriting and products team.
 

You will be based in one of our Swiss Re US locations including Chicago, Kansas City or New York. In addition to handling claims in North America, you will work with colleagues across international regions, providing advice and insight into US trends and exposures. You will also work with business partners to market our products and services through industry events and client meetings.

 

The Opportunity:

  • Actively manage a portfolio of directors and officers, fiduciary or employment practices claims, or a mixed portfolio of such claims, with responsibility for end-to-end adjudication processes
  • Confidently navigate in both primary and excess insurance claim environments
  • Collaborate with customers and brokers to achieve the most advantageous claim resolution
  • Work with the Operations team to ensure effective and efficient claim administration and accurate data
  • Actively engage with Client Markets and support marketing efforts by meeting with current and prospective clients
  • Provide high level analysis of claims portfolio results to the business
  • Identify and analyze claim trends
  • Review, support and assist in developing policy wordings and tailored solutions for clients
  • Liaise with Actuarial, Finance and Risk Management colleagues to share information in the management of claims, clients and risks
  • Represent and promote Swiss Re Corporate Solutions at industry conferences, client events and professional society functions



About You:

  • A university degree or equivalent is required
  • A law degree is not required, but is highly desirable
  • 7 years' experience handling Financial Lines claims
  • Possess or willing to acquire adjuster licenses as needed for various jurisdictions
  • Strong analytical, negotiation and influencing skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Self-starter requiring minimal direct supervision
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • 5-10% travel

 

For New York, NY, the estimated base salary range for this position is $116,000 to $213,000.  The specific salary offered for this, or any given role will take into account a number of factors including but not limited to job location, scope of role, qualifications, complexity/specialization/scarcity of talent, experience, education, and employer budget.  At Swiss Re, we take a "total compensation approach" when making compensation decisions. This means that we consider all components of compensation in their totality (such as base pay, short-and long-term incentives, and benefits offered), in setting individual compensation.
