Contract Surety Product Owner - Hybrid

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Contract Surety Product Owner to join our dynamic and expanding team.
About the Role
The primary focus of this role will be acting as a liaison between the UW team and all technology-related areas, including our enterprise systems, data management, reporting, IT projects, and more. In 2025 the entire NA Surety team launched a new project called "Nitrous", which will deliver several brand-new features enabling new businesses, higher underwriter productivity and operational robustness. The PO will represent Contract UW interests, summarize requirements for IT, assist in project management and squad duties, and help ensure successful implementations for the project, and beyond.
Key Responsibilities
Run strong SME (Subject Matter Expert) sessions across teams to plan delivery, design requirements, improve performance and deliver on improved business outcomes
- Issue Management: audit and improve the current bug and enhancement backlogs for Contract Surety business, manage methodology and collaborate with IT and our vendor partners to deliver solutions
- Project Roadmaps: Develop and maintain comprehensive project roadmaps that outline key milestones, deliverables, and timelines. Ensure alignment with business objectives, stakeholder expectation, leadership, and IT constraints
- Stage-gate and Milestone Tracking: Monitor and track project milestones to ensure timely completion, particularly as a member of the Nitrous project team. Identify potential risks and implement mitigation strategies to keep initiatives on schedule.
- Reporting: Ensure the comprehension and delivery of data and reporting to the team. Work with technology resources (Surety landscape, Stargate) to deliver information needs of the UWs
- Contract Surety Product Management: Work with the business to define new product needs, processing and billing standards, ratings and costings, then work with IT and other teams to ensure implementation
- Stakeholder Management: Build and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders, particularly home office and Surety leadership, including other business teams and project team members. Facilitate effective communication and collaboration to ensure project alignment and success
- Quality Assurance: Ensure that all project deliverables meet the highest quality standards. Implement best practices and continuous improvement processes to enhance project outcomes.
- Risk Management: Proactively identify and manage project risks. Develop contingency plans and take corrective actions to address any issues that may arise.
- OKRs: Support the UW leadership in tracking and meeting operational key results set out during Swiss Re's annual business review process

About You
- Proven experience in managing multiple initiatives simultaneously, and being able to prioritize and pivot rapidly
- Understanding and/or prior experience of underwriting in Surety is a must
- Understanding of project management methodologies and tools
- Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
- At least Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or Business or a related field. Higher degree is a plus
Our company has a hybrid work model where the expectation is that you will be in the office three days per week; however, for a strong candidate, the role can be offered as remote.
The estimated base salary range for this position is $156,000 to $246,000; however, negotiable for the right candidate. The specific salary offered for this, or any given role will take into account a number of factors including but not limited to job location, scope of role, qualifications, complexity/specialization/scarcity of talent, experience, education, and employer budget. This means that we consider all components of compensation in their totality (such as base pay, short-and long-term incentives, and benefits offered), in setting individual compensation.
