About The Team:
Supporting the North American Engineering & Construction team, you will join a team of experienced underwriters, focused on profit-oriented underwriting for large and middle-market construction projects.
About The Role:
In this role, you are accountable for delivering underwriting expertise and technical leadership for the Engineering & Construction Line of Business within North America.
As the Expert Underwriter, you will work in close collaboration with all underwriters in the region as well as the products centre. You will be close to the decision makers and report to the Head of Construction North America.
Working hand in hand with the client facing NA Underwriting teams, you will provide underwriting expertise, ensure high quality underwriting activities in the region, along with portfolio steering, product development & management.
You will contribute towards the development & implementation of the Engineering and Construction Underwriting strategy for the NA region to meet our profitable growth targets.

As a key expert you will contribute to analyse the (sub) portfolio and develop industry specific underwriting standards accordingly, best practices, risk appetite, including business filters

As a member of the global Engineering and Construction community, you will act as a point of reference on technical issues in North America and keep track on construction market development.

You will contribute to monitoring, steering, reporting and portfolio management together with the North America Head of construction.

You will make the underwriting decisions within respective underwriting authority level, and manage the escalation of cases exceeding their authority

You will be the consultative resource for referrals, coaching, sounding, and 4-eyes

You will mentor, develop, train underwriters, promote and share knowledge openly

You will represent E&C Products in meetings with internal stakeholders, clients, and brokers as appropriate

Foster innovation and creativity based on strong market knowledge
The work location is flexible to many of our Corporate Solutions offices across the United States.
About You:

University degree in Science / Engineering with minimum 5+ years of relevant work experience.

Excellent understanding of the US Builders' Risk insurance market with an established network of Engineering and Construction brokers

Flexible to work in both a collaborative team environment as well as independently

Strong entrepreneurial mindset, drive innovation in products and processes; focus on execution

For New York City and California, the estimated base salary range for this position is $120,000 to $213,000. The specific salary offered for this or any given role will take into account a number of factors including but not limited to job location, scope of role, qualifications, complexity/specialization/scarcity of talent, experience, education, and employer budget.
