Senior Client Underwriter P&C - Hybrid

About the Role

The Senior Client Underwriter for our direct channel reinsurance team works in partnership with an experienced peer to develop direct reinsurance relationships with top regional insurance companies and build a portfolio that outperforms the market benchmark. 

 

A successful Senior Client Underwriter will combine world class origination, client management, and underwriting skills to develop and foster client relations across all executive and management levels.

 

Key responsibilities include

 

End-to-end underwriting analyses of core property and casualty (auto, liability/umbrella, and/or workers compensation) business, including risk selection, costing, contracts review, and deal structuring; incorporating relevant technology to make informed decisions.

•          Grow our core business by developing opportunities in the portfolio in collaboration with relevant specialists to deliver the "right service right client".

•          A solid knowledge & anticipation of competitor products as well as industry and market trends.

•          Collaborating with Product Underwriters on the evaluation of reinsurance treaties and take decisive actions within your assigned treaties to meet standards and guidelines.

About You

 

 

You have strong interpersonal and teamwork skills, and pride yourself on your analytical and organizational skills. You have exceptional communication and client management skills that help you build and develop relationships with clients.

In addition, you bring the following experience:

•      Minimum of 5-7+ years of experience in reinsurance/insurance underwriting, portfolio, and/or client management.

•      Technical skills: reinsurance contract knowledge, strategic mindset, market intelligence, portfolio steering, product knowledge, risk assessment and appetite.

•      Critical non-technical skills: business acumen, client management, consultancy skills, judgement & decision making, negotiation skills, and current broker relationships.

•      Travel required 25-30%

•      Comprehensive costing/pricing experience is considered a plus.

 

The estimated base salary range for this position is $156,000 to $246,000.  The specific salary offered for this, or any given role will take into account a number of factors including but not limited to job location, scope of role, qualifications, complexity/specialization/scarcity of talent, experience, education, and employer budget.  At Swiss Re, we take a "total compensation approach" when making compensation decisions. This means that we consider all components of compensation in their totality (such as base pay, short-and long-term incentives, and benefits offered), in setting individual compensation.

 

Our company has a hybrid work model where the expectation is that you will be in the office three days per week.  This role is not eligible for either relocation assistance or visa sponsorship.
