Underwriter or Senior Underwriter- International Property- Central Region

About the Team:

Results and profit oriented underwriting of new and existing property accounts, as well as production of new business and relationship development involving large corporate risks and middle-market accounts with a focus on International Program business within Corporate Solutions, North America Property, Central Region. 

 

About the Role:

  • Production underwriting position responsible for handling large Global structured Property programs as well as 100% single-carrier accounts (ground-up Property programs).
  • Accounts vary from Middle/Upper Middle Market, with purchased limits up to USD 500m, as well as Fortune 500 business.
  • Analyses exposures including Natural Catastrophe hazards and assesses technical insurability and coverages for new and renewal submissions
  • Works with international program team to analyze international property exposures, liaises with the Credit Risk Management, Actuarial and Finance teams to structure global property programs and offers proposals in accordance with guidelines
  • Enters and maintains risk information into the various information systems and coordinates account administration
  • Uses Swiss Re tools and systems for the development of terms and conditions
  • Establishes and maintains specific industry sector know-how
  • Represents Swiss Re in meetings with clients and brokers
  • Regular contact with brokers and clients which requires competent technical know-how, negotiation, and language skills.
  • Works effectively within client teams
  • Stays on top of market environment and trends
  • Participates in internal projects to review/develop tools and processes
  • Acts as SME to coach and mentor other team members on structuring global property programs

 

 

About You:

  • Experience and understanding of commercial property underwriting, loss prevention and risk management for both NatCat and Man Made hazards
  • Knowledge of complex program structures as well as 100% Single Carrier business is desired.
  • Diverse industry experience a plus
  • Minimum 3 to 5 years underwriting experience or equivalent for Underwriter level; 7 to 10 years for Senior Underwriter
  • Experience in International Program business underwriting and design preferred
  • Willingness and ability to travel within the region including air travel for client/broker meetings, as needed
  • Ability to work in a team environment
  • Proficient in English
