(Junior) Underwriter Engineering & Construction (80-100%, hybrid, m/f/x)

About the Role

 

In this position, you'll be assessing risks and negotiating insurance conditions for diverse projects in power generation, manufacturing, infrastructure,  construction and renewable energy.

 

We are open to level of experience, as we offer development and will evaluate the level of seniority during the recruitment process. This can be from graduate level with a technical background or if you have a few years of experience already.

 

Key Responsibilities:

 

  • Assess risks and negotiate insurance conditions for projects in power, manufacturing, infrastructure, and construction sectors

  • Build relationships with clients and brokers across the Nordic & Benelux regions

  • Support sustainability initiatives and drive environmental goals in our portfolio

  • Lead underwriting processes when in a lead position

  • Contribute to business development by representing Corporate Solutions with brokers and clients

  • Grow our portfolio in Engineering and Construction plus Renewable energy sectors

 

About the Team

 

You'll join a team of experienced Senior Underwriters in Copenhagen and Hoofddorp with expertise across the construction and renewable energy sector (both on- and offshore). We serve clients primarily in the Nordics and Benelux regions, insuring their projects and assets worldwide.

 

About You

 

You're motivated to learn and grow in corporate insurance, take initiative learn about key drivers for business success and understand the Nordic and Benelux business environment.

 

We are looking for candidates who meet these requirements:

 

  • Engineering degree (mechanical, electrical, civil, or process); OR 2+ years as a professional engineer; OR experience as a loss adjuster with technical knowledge

  • Strong analytical skills and IT proficiency

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

  • Fluent in either of Danish, Swedish, Finnish, Norwegian plus  English

 

These are additional nice to haves:

 

  • Experience in Construction & Engineering industry

  • Knowledge of other Nordic languages

  • Insurance industry experience, particularly in underwriting or loss adjustment

  • Experience with renewable energy projects

  • Business acumen and entrepreneurial mindset

  • Willingness to travel occasionally

For Denmark, the base salary range for the Junior Underwriter E&C level is between DKK 413,000 and DKK 688,000 and for the Underwriter E&C level is between DKK 525,000 and DKK 875,000 (for a full-time role). The specific salary offered considers:​

 

  • the requirements, scope, complexity and responsibilities of the role, 
  • the applicant’s own profile including education/qualifications, expertise, specialisation, skills and experience.​
