Credit Risk Analyst (Hybrid, m/f/x/d, 80-100%)

You will be part of the Deal Team for our Surety EMEA and Surety North America activities and be responsible for:

 

  • Professional and profound credit risk /rating assessment and financial analysis of a diverse set of corporates.
  • Approval/recommendation of credit limits in line with internal policies and standards
  • Evaluation of transaction structures, delivery of objective risk related inputs on transactions and obligors as well as recommendation on credit risk mitigation and loss prevention.
  • At the request of Underwriters, perform initial screening and vetting of obligor risks
  • Monitoring of credit exposures to assess the potential impact of market events on specific obligors or portfolios.
  • Identification of high-risk companies and potential recommendations on watchlist placements.
  • Contribution towards shaping data and technology driven transformation of our business

In this role, you will work with colleagues in diverse functions including underwriting, risk management and portfolio management and pricing actuaries. In addition to the day-to-day tasks, you will contribute to activities linked to the elaboration and implementation of the strategy of the Global Credit & Surety, Corporate solutions Unit.

About the Team

 

The Credit Product Centre is a globally distributed team with presence in Sao Paulo, Kansas City, Frankfurt, Munich, Bratislava, Zurich, Bangalore, Kuala Lumpur and Singapore. The Credit Product Centre also maintains direct contact to diverse senior management throughout Swiss Re by acting as the key Credit & Surety link with Swiss Re Group Risk Management, Legal, Operations, Finance, Claims, Actuarial (pricing and reserving) and Information Technology.

 

The Credit Product Centre (CPC) is, in general, responsible for:

  • Leading key Credit & Surety (C&S) CorSo strategic initiatives in the area of risk assessment and insights.
  • Providing high-quality, fundamental corporate obligor and transaction credit risk assessments in support of the C&S unit's diverse credit-related underwriting activities.
  • Conducting forward-looking sector and credit market analyses and feasibility studies.
  • Underwriting Policy and ensuring overall compliance with unit, divisional and Swiss Re Group standards.
  • Ensuring accuracy and integrity of methods and tools used to support transaction pricing.
  • Ensuring proper monitoring and oversight of the in-force Credit & Surety portfolio.

 

Our Surety EMEA and Surety North America underwriting teams provide capacity and solutions for leading Corporates and Financial Institutions in EMEA and North America and for cross border surety transactions for Global Corporates and Financial Institutions. As such, the post involves an international work environment with a global scope and customer base.

 

About You

 

  • 4-7 years of experience (preferably in corporate credit risk analysis) in credit risk management function. Knowledge of corporate loans is a big plus.
  • Strong credit risk assessment skills with focus on the EMEA and North American markets but a demonstrated ability to apply skills to a global environment.
  • Ability to go "beyond the financials" in enriching the credit analysis with most current economic, industry and market sentiments.
  • Attentive to details. Ability to critically question rationales behind transaction applications and obtain a holistic view of the business justification.
  • Proficient in financial spreading, financial projections, experience in handling of credit application documents.
  • Convincing interpersonal skills and ability to maintain effective working relations in a multi-disciplinary and multi-cultural environment.
  • Flexibility to be engaged in projects and work in project teams.
  • Proficiency in English and German is required; knowledge of Spanish, French or Italian would be a distinct plus.
  • Strong skills in Excel and MS Office
     

Strong plus:

 

  • Understanding of rating asset managers and private equity firms
  • Experience in assessing Obligors' group structures and intragroup linkages with the aim to determine credit ratings with limited financial information.
  • Profound understanding of the specific risks in the international surety business.
  • Understanding of rating municipal companies and government related non-profit organizations.
  • Business degree and/or CFA / Chartered Accountant or similar qualification in finance
