(Senior) Financial Lines Underwriter

About the Role

We are seeking a Market Facing underwriter for FinPro with good technical and interpersonal skills to join the FinPro team to deliver a profitable growth ambition of our FinPro book in Hong Kong. 

You will contribute to delivering top and bottom line plan in accordance to local and regional strategies, target segments in accordance to Swiss Re underwriting guidelines.  

Your key responsibilities span across hands-on underwriting, seeking business opportunities and building up pipelines, contributing to our strategy development and driving execution with a customer-centric focus for HK & Taiwan.

You will assume responsibility for developing and underwriting Directors' & Officers' Liability (D&O), Professional Indemnity (PI) risks according to Corporate Solutions appetite and philosophy.

Key responsibilities include:

• Develop and underwrite FinPro risks with strong ownership in proactively manage renewal portfolio and identify and develop new business pipelines in target segments to meet and exceeds financial plan.
• Design timely and bespoke insurance solutions which add value and profitability for the client, the broker and Swiss Re
• Technically assess and underwrite business in accordance with the business's profitability targets, underwriting guidelines and processes and within stated authorities.
• Able to manage internal insurance related systems. 
• Ensure the integrity of information on the relevant underwriting systems is in accordance to underwriting guidelines, limits and pricing/rating procedures.
• Develop innovative products and wordings revamp. 
• Reports to and work closely with Head Casualty FinPro Greater China to develop strategic planning for FinPro portfolio for Hong Kong.

Client and Broker Management

• Develop and Manage FinPro business by providing high quality, timely and appropriate service and support to trading partners and customer.
• Focus on developing and strengthening ongoing relationships with a view to enlarging business portfolio for the future.
• Develop strong relationships with international and domestic brokers to grow a quality FinPro portfolio.

Leadership

• Contribute to the company's reputation of being an insurance subject matter expert by presenting at relevant industry and client specific seminars, workshops and forums where appropriate.
• Develop strong internal relationships locally, regionally and internationally.
• Work closely within the underwriting team and other relevant stakeholders in the Group (Products/ Claims Management/Customer & Distribution).
• Actively implement the strategies and providing underwriting support to the Team by sharing ideas and technical knowledge.
• Coach and support underwriters in Greater China team.

About You

• Bachelor Degree or above with a minimum of 8 years' experience in Financial Lines insurance, with a preference in underwriting and broking experience.
• A presence in the financial lines market with strong market relationships both in international and domestic markets with deep industry understandings and insights into market trends, legal and competitive landscape.
• A high level of underwriting acumen with a solid understanding of risk exposures, wordings and pricing.
• Strong ability to demonstrate high level business acumen to build and maintain a quality profitable financial lines portfolio with a strong and solid track record of developing and managing a quality FinPro portfolio.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills. 
• Strong ability to navigating ambiguity and adapting to changes with proven strategic, analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Self-motivated with strong ability to working independently, efficiently and under pressure.
• Ability to work across locations within the Greater China Team.
• Strong proficiency in verbal and written English, Traditional and Simplified Chinese (Cantonese and Mandarin).
