About the Role
Key Responsibilities
- Responsibility for delivering the L&H Claims service in Hong Kong and Taiwan markets, which may include overseeing projects related
- Conduct client visits to learn about our customers claim handling practices, confirm that claims are being handled according to industry standards and in accordance with the terms of our contracts and to provide superior customer service by suggesting best practices or improvements to claim handling practices
- Manage the disposition of claims on assigned accounts. Assure the establishment of appropriate case reserves to cover the exposures on reported claims, and approve payments within authority on claims covered by the contracts
- Assist in formulating, developing and implementing account management and disposition strategy including claim audits and commutation proposals
- Provide input on claim trends, loss development, contract wording issues and any other information requested by other units within Swiss Re
- Proactively engage with and influence stakeholders across Swiss Re, cross functional team, UW and Claims Office, Medical Officers to gather insights, facilitate alignment of deliverables and utilize available resources
- Articulate activities within the context of L&H Reinsurance's business goals, specifically financial targets, with a long-term focus on sustainability and strategic objectives
- Interface with senior management and other units
About the Team
You'll join Swiss Re's dynamic Life & Health Hong Kong & Taiwan team in Asia, a team dedicated to providing innovative reinsurance solutions to clients. Working closely with underwriting, actuarial, claims, and other solutions teams, you'll be part of a collaborative environment that values expertise, client focus, and market leadership. The team combines deep technical knowledge with commercial acumen to deliver sustainable growth while maintaining Swiss Re's position as a market leader in the region.
About You
Education and professional experience:
- Minimum 10 years’ relevant Life & Health insurance or reinsurance Claims experience, preferably with regional/international exposure
- University Degree or similar qualification
Skills requirements:
- Good knowledge of the insurance and reinsurance industry, including market and portfolio dynamics, as well as a thorough understanding of the main products and services offered by Swiss Re, its competitors, and clients
- Strong technical expertise in Life & Health claims across market-relevant products
- Strong numeracy and analytical skills to effectively interpret data, identify anomalies, and develop informed action plans
- Proven ability to collaborate, with a track record of actively promoting cross-functional teamwork
- Exceptional negotiation, communication, influencing, and presentation skills, with the capability to interact with senior claim and legal officers at client companies as well as Swiss Re senior management
- Effective team player and self-starter, able to engage with stakeholders at all organizational levels
- Excellent command of English; proficiency in Cantonese required, and Mandarin considered an asset
