About the Role

This is a hybrid role that combines the responsibility for building client relationships and providing underwriting and claims related services to Swiss Re’s Life & Health clients with the global responsibility for the underwriting of our High Net Worth (HNW) business

The role will require frequent client contact on senior and working level, as well as close co-operation with other teams and stakeholders within Swiss Re globally, regionally and locally.

While this role oversees both the Underwriting and Claims functions, we recognise the successful candidate may only have an Underwriting background. In that event we expect that the successful candidate will be open to acquiring the required skillsets for a claims leader as well.

Key Responsibilities

• Drive and own the strategy of the Hong and Taiwan L&H underwriting and claims team as well as our global HNW underwriting approach, co-ordinate the delivery of underwriting solutions and services to our clients
• Be the face to the market of our global HNW underwriting function and build a strong network within the global HNW broker distribution and underwriting network
• Be a people leader within the Hong Kong and Taiwan L&H underwriting and claims team and the broader underwriting community in the APAX MU including our colleagues in Bangalore, India
• Ensure full compliance with Swiss Re's L&H underwriting and claims philosophy, strategy, procedures and practices and adhere to authority limits
• Drive innovation and thought leadership within the market, collaborating with the Swiss Re Solutions team on technology solutions within our Magnum XP and Promise XP underwriting and claims ecosystems
• Collaborate across the wider functional units such as pricing and client markets in product innovation and quote activities, to bring risk insights which help drive us towards our business targets.
• Cultivate and grow client relationships and help strengthen the Swiss Re Underwriting and Claims brand, be an active member in key industry associations such as HKFI and HKUCA
• Oversee any local underwriting and claims-related initiatives as well as the implementation of global and regional underwriting initiatives

You'll join Swiss Re's dynamic Life & Health Hong Kong & Taiwan team in Asia, a team dedicated to providing innovative reinsurance solutions to clients. Working closely with underwriting, actuarial, claims, and other solutions teams, you'll be part of a collaborative environment that values expertise, client focus, and market leadership. The team combines deep technical knowledge with commercial acumen to deliver sustainable growth while maintaining Swiss Re's position as a market leader in the region.

About You

You're a strategic thinker with excellent leadership abilities and a passion for the Life & Health insurance sector. You thrive in client-facing roles and enjoy building relationships while delivering technical expertise. While ideally you have experience in both underwriting and claims, we welcome candidates with deep expertise in either area who are eager to expand their knowledge.

We are looking for candidates who meet these requirements:

• Passion for the value that underwriting can deliver and a desire to improve continuously and challenge the status quo.
• At least 15 years' experience in (re)insurance with a strong technical understanding of L&H products and the drivers of profitability and exposure to the global HNW market
• Strong leadership, people management or relationship management experience with demonstrable experience of fostering a high-performance team environment
• Proven leadership skills on talent development and coaching
• Ability to translate technical knowledge into clearly articulated commercial proposals including benefits/impacts
• Ability to visibly contribute to and promote the SR Brand as technical expert and knowledge partner
• Willingness to take accountability for leading and driving tasks & projects, combined with ability to collaborate and support colleagues and the wider team.
• Strong communication skill, creative and innovative thinking and open minded embracing changes
• English capability is required
