About the Role

As the Head Technical & Operational Excellence for APAC ex China, you'll be the architect of our technical strategy, ensuring portfolio resilience while driving operational transformation. Reporting directly to the Head L&H Re APAC ex China, you'll balance disciplined risk management with innovative approaches to create sustainable value.

Key Responsibilities

  • Define and lead the technical strategy across pricing, underwriting and claims, ensuring portfolio resilience and sustainable new business value creation

  • Shape and develop the long-term capability agenda for technical functions, building future-ready skills and leadership bench strength

  • Drive transformation of technical and operational capabilities by embedding advanced analytics, AI-enabled processes and modern toolsets

  • Ensure robust governance and risk discipline, reinforcing underwriting standards and effective control frameworks

  • Set and steer the in-force value management strategy to optimize portfolio performance and protect embedded value

  • Act as performance steward at portfolio level, balancing growth, profitability, capital and risk considerations

  • Lead cross-functional alignment at enterprise level, partnering with CUO, COO, Finance and Group stakeholders

  • Foster a high-performance culture that emphasizes risk awareness, ownership and continuous improvement

  • Contribute to strategic direction and enable delivery of transformation priorities under Built to Lead

About the Team

You'll join the Life & Health Reinsurance leadership team for APAC ex China, a dynamic group of professionals dedicated to growing our presence across diverse Asian markets. The team combines deep technical expertise with market knowledge to deliver innovative reinsurance solutions while maintaining strong client relationships throughout the region.

About You

You're a strategic thinker with exceptional technical depth and commercial acumen. You thrive in complex environments, can translate vision into action, and have a proven ability to lead transformation initiatives. Your collaborative approach and cultural sensitivity allow you to influence across boundaries and build high-performing teams.

We are looking for candidates who meet these requirements:

  • Qualified actuary with 15+ years' actuarial experience in Life & Health re/insurance

  • Proven experience in shaping technical strategy and translating it into measurable outcomes

  • Track record of building and evolving high-performing leadership teams

  • Demonstrated ability to drive transformation and embed innovation at scale

  • Strong enterprise thinking with portfolio-level perspective
