About the Role

 

As a Pricing Actuary in Swiss Re's Life & Health Business for Hong Kong & Taiwan, you'll dive into the fascinating world of biometric risk assessment, primarily focusing on mortality, critical illness, and medical reimbursement portfolios. Your analytical prowess will drive key business decisions through technically sound pricing support for existing treaties, innovative product development, and competitive new business tenders.

 

Key Responsibilities

 

  • Conduct thorough experience studies and pricing reviews on existing medical reimbursement treaties
  • Perform comprehensive treaty reviews and set assumptions for biometric risk business
  • Price new products for mortality, critical illness, and medical reimbursement for product development discussions and business tenders
  • Maintain meticulous documentation of all pricing work, ensuring compliance with costing guidelines and standards
  • Drive the referral process for large quotes to regional or global costing reviewers
  • Collaborate with client managers, underwriters, and claims colleagues on treaty pricing and product development
  • Liaise with external clients on treaty matters and product innovation
  • Help establish and review appropriate pricing bases, methodologies, and tools
  • Stay current with local and global actuarial practices and industry trends

 

About the Team

 

As part of the L&H Hong Kong & Taiwan Team, you'll be both an individual contributor and team player within a collaborative group of 6 professionals based in Hong Kong. The team works closely with client managers, underwriting, and claims specialists to drive business development across Hong Kong and Taiwan markets. 

 

About You

 

  • You're an analytical thinker with excellent communication skills who thrives in collaborative environments. Your attention to detail is matched by your ability to see the bigger picture in risk assessment and pricing strategy, allowing you to develop innovative solutions for complex insurance challenges.
  • We are looking for candidates who meet these requirements:
  • At least 5 years of direct or reinsurance experience in pricing and experience studies, ideally within the protection product space and with experience from medical reimbursement business
  • Making good progress towards actuarial qualification
  • Strong critical thinking and analytical skills
  • Good communication, negotiation, and teamwork skills

 

These are additional nice to haves:

 

  • Strong knowledge of biometric risk business in Hong Kong
  • Familiarity with computer tools such as SAS, with experience and interest in actuarial analytics
  • An aptitude for languages would be an advantage
