As a Structurer & Transaction Manager, you will be at the forefront of designing, structuring, and executing innovative solutions for our clients, while collaborating closely with colleagues across APAC and globally. This position offers the opportunity to develop deep technical expertise, strengthen leadership and negotiation skills, and expand your professional network across the insurance and reinsurance industry.
About the Role
- Deal Structuring & Origination
- Lead the design of creative, client-focused solutions that align with Swiss Re’s risk appetite.
- Drive deal origination activities, including market strategy, structuring, and counterparty negotiations.
- Execution & Project Leadership
- Manage transaction execution from start to finish, including internal/external discussions, timetable management, and deal documentation.
- Oversee due diligence processes and lead contract negotiations in cross-disciplinary teams.
- Analytics & Modelling
- Guide and mentor colleagues in developing Excel-based financial models and delivering insightful analytics.
- Interpret actuarial outputs and assess key drivers of financial performance in life insurance portfolios.
- Communication & Stakeholder Engagement
- Lead the preparation and review of presentations and documents for both client origination and internal approval.
- Influence stakeholders in a resource-constrained environment by applying strong communication and negotiation skills.
- Collaboration & Knowledge Sharing
- Work closely with colleagues across Client Markets, Business Development, and global L&H teams.
- Foster strong collaboration across diverse cultural and regulatory landscapes within the APAC region.
About the Team
You will join Life & Health Structured Solutions (LHSS), part of Swiss Re’s Products Underwriting function. LHSS:
- Provides structured reinsurance and capital management solutions for L&H clients.
- Assumes life insurance risk in non-traditional formats.
- Underwrites life insurance securitizations for both Swiss Re and external partners.
The global LHSS team consists of over 30 professionals across New York, Zurich, London, Toronto, Singapore, and Hong Kong, representing diverse professional backgrounds beyond actuarial expertise.
About You
- Qualified actuary or finance professional with 10+ years of experience in transactions, reinsurance, or capital management.
- Strong ability to interpret actuarial model outputs, including surplus emergence and financial drivers of life portfolios.
- Solid understanding of financial instruments, balance sheet impacts, and capital management concepts (funding, ALM, CoC).
- Knowledge of embedded value (EV), MCEV, risk-based capital frameworks, and Solvency II.
- Hands-on experience in cash flow and stochastic modeling, as well as financial reporting.
- Familiarity with APAC life insurance markets, products, regulatory regimes, and transaction activity.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills, with proven ability to influence across functions and geographies.
