Structurer & Transaction Manager

About the Role

 

Your primary responsibility in this role will be to help drive the Asia transaction success story. This includes:

 

  • Develop and structure creative, tailor-made solutions that meet client needs whilst staying within the company's risk appetite
  • Build/use Excel-based models and providing analytics
  • Involvement in transaction execution including driving discussions for various internal and external partners, handling timetables, ensure file documentation, and deal documentation 
  • Prepare of presentations & documents, both for originating new business, and for the internal approval process
  • Work as part of a cross-disciplinary team during due diligence and contract negotiation

About the Team

 

  • We sit within a larger team. Ensuring close and effective collaboration with team members located globally will be vital.
  • You will join the diverse and knowledgeable team LHSS, which is part of Products Underwriting and has several core functions:
  • We provide structured reinsurance & capital management solutions to L&H clients
  • We assume life insurance risk in non-traditional formats
  • We underwrite life insurance-based securitizations, both for Swiss Re and third party clients

 

The Global team is comprised of over 30 professionals, in various locations including New York, Zurich, London, Sydney and Hong Kong. While the majority are actuaries, a wide variety of professional backgrounds are represented.

 

You will work extensively with colleagues in many different areas, in particular Client Markets, Business Development and the different L&H teams both throughout Asia and globally. As such, the following will be key:

 

  • Sensitivity to understand the different cultural approaches throughout the region
  • Ability to gain an understanding of the different regulations across the region
  • Shared approach and strong team spirit
  • Ability to influence others in an environment of rare resources and challenging priorities

 

About You

 

  • Qualified actuary or Finance professional with 5-10 years of work experience particularly if transactions related
  • Ability to interpret actuarial model output with regards to drivers of surplus emerging and other financials of life insurance portfolios
  • Knowledge of different financial instruments and its impact on balance sheet
  • Basic understanding of embedded value and/ or MCEV
  • Experience in cash flow modeling, stochastic modeling, reporting
  • Understanding of risk-based capital and Solvency II frameworks
  • Familiarity with life insurers business from a financial perspective and capital management concepts including funding, ALM and CoC
  • Knowledge of some of the core Asia markets in respect of underlying products, clients, regulatory regimes and transaction activity
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written

 

You will need to apply the rigor needed for detailed modeling in bespoke and creative transactions, often where no blueprints exist, in a results-based, deadline-intensive environment.
