About the Role
The role of Structurer is within the Pricing and Structuring unit, an integral part of Financial Markets Reinsurance. The primary responsibility of the role is to work as part of a global team, tasked with the pricing and structuring of deals across multiple asset classes and risks.
This will include:
• Development and pricing of new products and the structuring of deals with Swiss Re's clients
• Hedge design, derivative and structured finance approach for managing exposures incurred by new deals
• Formulating pricing methodologies for new risks or embedded exposures, bridging financial market and actuarial techniques
• The translation / application of financial engineering techniques into a reinsurance setting, often requiring the use of both quantitative and market experience
• Aide our Client Markets and reinsurance structuring teams with the promotion and marketing of reinsurance linked to market risk exposures
The individual will support the team in all aspects of financial markets-based structuring. This includes designing of structures and hedging trades, risk and pricing analytics of the structures (using financial engineering techniques, including programming), and supporting internal risk review and approval processes. The embedded financial features the individual will face will include innovative savings-block based positions, rate-exposed asset-liability structures, and asset-backed financing, among others..
About the Team
This role will be an integral part of the Pricing and Structuring unit within Financial Markets Reinsurance. The unit is directly responsible for managing reinsurance transactions with embedded financial market exposure. The team fulfils this mandate by carrying out enhanced analytics, design of structured transactions, risk mitigation and the optimal steering of investment activity.
About You
Key requirements
• Deep understanding of quantitative analysis , the use of models and developing pricing strategy, particularly in the context of solving new problems
• First or 2:1 Degree in Mathematics, Physics or related subject
• 3+ years of meaningful experience in financial markets, preferably with a derivative structuring background or a structuring-focussed position at an insurer, fund manager, bank or reinsurer
• Experience of financial derivatives and their applications
• Good analytical and quantitative skills, including experience of using analytical toolkits and scripting languages
• Demonstrative ability in and enthusiasm for working and communicating effectively with various internal clients.
• Experience of coding languages in a work environment
• Understanding of insurance/reinsurance would be a plus but is non-essential, though the ability to apply knowledge to unfamiliar settings is critical
