About the Role

 

Core Responsibilities:

 

  • Enter and maintain information in systems and tools used to complete associated tasks;
  • Modify, update, and process changes in applicable tools, systems, and documents, as needed;
  • Create and maintain records both electronically and physically, if required, following established guidelines and processes;
  • Follow established performance standards, metrics and controls applicable to the business unit supported.

 

Additional Responsibilities:

 

  • When errors are detected, proactively contact Underwriter, customer or process owner with inconsistencies found and directions for corrections;
  • Interact and play as one with on-shore/off-shore contractors, as appropriate, to answer questions or give directions;
  • Diligently follow-up on outstanding items and documentation.
  • Responsible for premium collection and remittance allocation tasks.
  • Responsible for internal and external reporting.
  • Support wider team to cover holidays etc when required.

 

Supporting the Underwriters in handling of offers (renewal and new business) for insurance and reinsurance business with the following duties:

 

  • Post underrwriting support on endorsement follow-up / execution, endorsement documentation etc.
  • Screening and checking quality of submission (requesting additional information / clearing business). Collaboration with outsourced provider to ensure data quality and accuracy;
  • Setting up and finalizing accounts in the systems (underwriting, pricing, policy slip & wording etc.) ensuring the highest level of data accuracy;
  • Booking of closings, statements and contract changes during the policy period;
  • Support in premium handling, monitoring and chasing. Collaboration with other units (Technical Accounting) on queries and issues with regards to premium.

 

About the Team

 

The Business Services team in Corporate Solutions Operations is looking for an experienced Underwriting Associate to be based in Hong Kong.

 

You will be responsible for the support of the underwriting teams in their underwriting duties. You are responsible for efficient, timely business processing as well as accurate data entry.The role involves a high degree of interaction and coordination with underwriters and other internal / external departments, as well as related functions.

 

About you

 

  • University Degree or equivalent;
  • IIQE paper 1 & 2 passed is desirable;
  • Knowledge of Underwriting & Technical Accounting process administration;
  • Min 3 years experiences in Insurance, with experience in multiple lines of business. Experience on Construction Workmen Compensation line of business is desirable.
  • Excellent communication skills, with fluency in English required. Knowledge of Cantonese would be advantageous;
  • A strong team player with ability to demonstrate the highest level of professionalism and credibility;
  • Expert ability to accurately and efficiently analyze data with a sound understanding of numbers;
  • Solutions and results oriented individual with an ability to multi-task;
  • Strong service and client orientation.
