About the Role

As a Senior DevOps / Site Reliability Engineer and Service Architect you will have an unusual and outstanding opportunity to join us: a diverse and motivated team, committed to delivering value and creative solutions together with our clients and partners in the enterprise IT space.


With your expertise you will be:


•             Building and mentoring the distributed team members in engineering and architecture topics

•             Supporting and owning the continuous development of key IT platforms

•             Getting actively involved current initiatives, develop and drive new concepts, evaluate possible (open source) tools for Automation Integration and/or support other departments in the evaluation process.

•             Integrating into existing and new orchestration and automation interfaces form IT Infrastructure Platforms and Business processes

•             Building the foundation for the AIOps for the Service Insights Product Area by further developing the orchestration platform

•             Promoting and advertising your great ideas to the IT System Engineers and IT Business Domain Developers

•             Advocating on the topic of Orchestration


About the Team


The mission of the new Service Insights Centre is hugely ambitions – we want to provide autonomous IT Operations capabilities (e.g. with AI) to recognize and resolve serious issues faster and with greater accuracy than humans can today. We will provide monitoring and predictive insights about how all IT services are meeting current and will meet future service level objectives (stability, availability, security etc.). We will support and enable business and technical domains to deliver the data required for our vision.


The mission of the Service Insights squad is to:


•             Develop, maintain and provide a continuous (24/7) overview about the IT Health in Swiss Re (current issues, incidents, deployments, possible future issues, cyber threats etc.).

•             Provide insights to quickly determine the cause of and possible resolution path for incidents.

•             Predict incidents before they happen, trigger automation to resolve them and strive for autonomous operation of systems.

•             Provide insights and transparency to application owners and other stakeholders on stability, impacts, pain points, where to improve etc.

•             Contribute insights to all stakeholders in support of making our IT services stable and reliable and increasing transparency about outages and/or incidents.

•             Provide KPIs and insights to the CTO and senior management in order to steer the technology strategy and investments etc.

•             Work closely and effectively with stakeholders in units and divisions across Group Technology Service and all the business domains.


The core scope of the Product Area includes:


•             Providing a continuous (24/7) overview about the IT Health (current issues, incidents, deployments, possible future issues etc), reduce time to resolve and predict issues

•             Providing KPIs and insights to the CTO and senior management in order to steer the technology strategy and investments etc.

•             Providing the central monitoring and logging platforms in Swiss Re.

•             Proving configuration management and application portfolio management services to Swiss Re.

•             Providing value to Business Units by increasing transparency about stability, reliability, outages and incidents.


About you


We are happy to meet you if you possess:


•             The ability to see the big picture, simplify and present concepts

•             Coding skills (Golang, Java preferred), (open)API definitions, GraphQL, understand XML, YAML, JSON) – required for Infrastructure Automation

•             Strong experience of application and infrastructure monitoring with Open Source tools like Selenium, Influx stack (TICK), elastic stack (ELK), Prometheus and Grafana.

•             Hands on experience with automation and configuration management tools

•             Knowledge on how to integrate any kind of REST/SOAP Service

•             An outgoing and integrative personality likes to discuss and promote his/her ideas.

•             Database and Data Modelling skills (relational and NoSQL, GraphDBs)

•             DevOps skills, preach and follow the CI/CD principles

•             Knowledge of the following technologies is a strong plus: Kubernetes, Docker
