Underwriter Casualty (80-100%)(Based in our Hoofddorp office)

As an underwriter at Swiss Re, you will further develop your skills and grow your knowledge of corporate liability, serving a diverse & demanding international client portfolio.

About the Role

As Underwriter Casualty you will work closely with teammates and colleagues in operations, claims, risk engineering and actuarial insights, as well as experts within Swiss Re whenever necessary. You will:

• Coordinate your own portfolio of existing business, generating commercial business opportunities, assessing & assessing their technical insurability, reviewing cover structures & policy wordings, and preparing quotations.
• Take responsibility for adhering to underwriting guidelines, processing data, meeting timelines, and handling administrative requirements.
• Understand your clients' requirements and expectations and handle day-to-day discussions and negotiations with brokers, existing- and new clients,
• Contribute to CorSo projects, work in international deal teams and accept special assignments as required.

Although experience is welcome, proactivity, a critical mind, and enthusiasm to learn are essential! Building from your existing level of knowledge about commercial general liability insurance, you will be partnered with a senior team member to grow into the role, gain expertise and learn.

You will be based in and operate from Hoofddorp, with the flexibility of regular home working with our Hybrid working mode and Own The Way You Work principle.

This role is within the Casualty & Finpro underwriting team of Swiss Re Corporate Solutions (CorSo).

About You

• 3+ years relevant experience in the insurance market, as an underwriter, broker, claim handler, lawyer or as a corporate insurance manager. Experience of General & Product Liability preferred.
• High level of numeracy and some understanding of actuarial concepts.
• Solid communication, presentation and negotiating skills. Strong at building relationships.
• Agile approach to work, with the ability to set priorities and allocate own resources, balancing multiple deals in parallel without losing oversight.
• You fluently inform in both Dutch and English (any Nordic languages or French would be beneficial).
• University / HBO level of education, preferably in the field of law or economics, with a high level of IT proficiency.
