Underwriter - Property Single Risk (or Senior Underwriter)

About the Role:
- Production underwriting position responsible for handling large structured Property programs (shared/layered) as well as 100% single-carrier accounts (ground-up Property programs).
- Accounts vary from Middle/Upper Middle Market, with purchased limits up to USD 500m, as well as Fortune 500 business.
- Analyses exposures including Natural Catastrophe hazards and assesses technical insurability and coverages for new and renewal submissions.
- Establishes and maintains specific industry sector knowledge and understands industry trends.
- Represents Swiss Re in meetings with clients, brokers, and other stakeholders.
- Participates in internal projects to review/develop tools and processes.
About the Team:
We are results and profit-oriented team of underwriters covering new and existing property accounts, as well as production of new business and relationship development involving large corporate risks and middle-market accounts. Our focus is on large Property Program business within Corporate Solutions, North America Property, Central Region.
About You:
- Experience and understanding of commercial property underwriting, loss prevention and risk management for both NatCat and Man-Made hazards.
- Knowledge of complex program structures as well as 100% Single Carrier business is desired.
- Minimum 3 to 5 years underwriting experience or equivalent for Underwriter level; 7 to 10 years for Senior Underwriter
- Willingness and ability to travel within the region including air travel for client/broker meetings, as needed.
- Team player and great communicator with strong negotiation skills.
The role is open to our Houston or Dallas office locations. For roles located within our Swiss Re offices, our company has a hybrid work model where the expectations is that you will be in the office three days per week on average.
The estimated base salary range for this position is $108,000 to $195,000. The specific salary offered for any given role will take into account a number of factors including but not limited to job location, scope of role, qualifications, complexity/specialization/scarcity of talent, experience, education, and employer budget. At Swiss Re, we take a "total compensation approach" when making compensation decisions. This means that we consider all components of compensation in their totality (such as base pay, short-and long-term incentives, and benefits offered), in setting individual compensation.
