About the Team

You will be part of a small but dynamic and collaborative team of experienced underwriters, focused on profit-oriented underwriting of Renewable Energy risks under construction and in operational accounts for both onshore and offshore.

Our team is focused on building relationships with key partners in the large corporate and middle-market risk segments to further support the growth of the Renewable Energy industry globally.

The work location is flexible to many of our Corporate Solutions offices across the United States.

About the Role

We're looking for a highly motivated and result oriented Underwriter or Senior Underwriter to join North American Engineering and Construction team in the USA. This Role will report to the Head of Engineering & Construction North America.

As part of the role, you will:
 

• Support the team to profitably develop the US E&C portfolio, meeting the financial goals, maintain and expand Swiss Re Corporate Solutions footprint in the market.
• Underwrite construction and operational risks in accordance with Swiss Re's process, procedures, business philosophy and appetite, for nationwide large and midsize accounts with a focus on Renewable Energy (Onshore Wind, Solar and BESS, Offshore Wind)
• Actively identify client needs and growth potential and develop tailor-made solutions in partnership with clients / brokers.
• Play an active role in the Swiss Re Global Renewable Energy community in terms of knowledge sharing, training, special projects and / or research topics.
• Properly maintain underwriting documentation, ensure high data quality in underwriting system and follow-up post bound activities such as endorsement, premium payment, claim data, filing
• Support the growth of associated lines of business by actively cross selling the capabilities of Swiss Re Corporate Solutions and work in cooperation with colleagues within Swiss Re when and where required.

About You

• Passionate about Renewable Energy, and Energy Transition
• Experience in Underwriting Energy Property and / or Construction;
  3-5 years for Underwriter role; 7-10 years for Senior Underwriter role.
• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to collaborate and coordinate with internal and external partners.

• Strong entrepreneurial and customer focused mentality; A can- do attitude / creative approach and feel comfortable working in an area that is fluid and dynamic.

• Solid knowledge of Renewable Energy (Solar, Wind and BESS).
• Excellent understanding of the US insurance market with an established network of Engineering and Construction as well as Energy brokers
• Results oriented with a friendly, collegial, and open communication style, ability to work independently within a team.
• Fluent in English with strong written and verbal communication skills. Additional language skills are desirable.
• Four-year degree, with a minimum bachelor's degree from an accredited university, or equivalent, ideally in Science or Engineering.
• Position will require 10-20% travel within the USA.

For New York City, the estimated base salary range for the Underwriter level is $120,000 to $192,000 and the Senior Underwriter level is $160,000 to $252,000. The specific salary offered for this or any given role will take into account a number of factors including but not limited to job location, scope of role, qualifications, complexity/specialization/scarcity of talent, experience, education, and employer budget.
