About the Role:
As an Application Engineer III, you'll be at the forefront of designing and developing microservices-based applications using modern cloud technologies. You'll collaborate with business product owners, architecture teams, and engineering teams to translate complex business requirements into elegant technical solutions that align with our product vision and roadmap.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and develop proof of concept solutions for our product applications
- Architect and maintain application architecture artifacts and drive best practices
- Participate actively in design and code reviews to ensure quality and standards
- Collaborate with global teams and external partners throughout the product development lifecycle
- Troubleshoot and consult on solution challenges, providing hands-on expertise
- Define and improve methodologies for building, testing, and deploying applications
- Develop full-stack applications using .NET Core and Angular
- Integrate securely with Azure services, especially Key Vault and Service Bus
- Implement best practices for security, performance, and scalability in cloud-native applications
- Document system designs, workflows, and technical solutions
- Stay current with technology trends and identify promising new solutions

You'll be joining the Risk Data Solutions business of Swiss Re, where we develop innovative technology solutions that help manage and analyze risk data. Our team combines technical expertise with business domain knowledge to build applications that deliver significant value to the organization. About You:
You're an experienced engineer with a passion for application development and a talent for analyzing and solving complex technical challenges. You thrive in collaborative environments and enjoy translating business needs into elegant technical solutions. Your strong communication skills enable you to work effectively with stakeholders across different functions and regions.
We are looking for candidates who meet these requirements:
- Strong backend development experience using .NET Core (C#)
- Proficient in Angular (v9 or above) for frontend application development
- Hands-on experience with Azure PaaS services: Azure App Services, Azure Storage, Azure SQL
- Expertise in building and consuming RESTful APIs
- Experience with Entity Framework Core, LINQ, and relational database design
- Strong understanding of application security, performance tuning, and cloud best practices
These are additional nice to haves:
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, or similar tools
- Familiarity with Docker and containerized deployment
- Knowledge of Azure Key Vault for secrets and credential management
- Experience with Azure Service Bus for messaging and decoupled communication
- Proficiency with logging and monitoring tools such as Application Insights, Serilog, or OpenTelemetry
- Unit and integration testing using xUnit, NUnit, or similar frameworks
- Familiarity with Git and version control best practices.
Our company has a hybrid work model where the expectation is that you will be in the office at least three days per week.
