Alibaba Cloud Site Reliability Engineer SRE

About the Role

We are looking for hands-on Site Reliability Engineer/Platform Operations Engineer, who will have an oversight and will be responsible for operating the Alibaba Cloud Platform.

As an SRE you will overlook and lead operational stability and security of the overall cloud platform. Use automation, monitoring and detection to identify, prioritize issues and incidents to keep the platform robust, secure, and stable.

Main responsibilities:

• SRE will be responsible for Cloud Infrastructure Operational tasks for Alibaba Cloud platform which includes –security monitoring and detection, vulnerability management, infrastructure patching and upgrades, access management, deployment, and release management processes
• Define and build solutions to automate Cloud infrastructure management tasks and application monitoring
• Ensure that the platform and platform capabilities are stable and reliable meeting predefined SLAs.

• Define and lead service level objectives for platform
• Define and lead the business continuity (BC) solution – backup, disaster recovery (DR) process and DR solution. Support application engineering teams to implement adequate DR and BC solution/processes
• Triage production incidents and coordinate with caber defence and security colleagues and application development teams to resolve them.
• Design and implement monitoring and detection tools/routine and reports for security issues, vulnerabilities, technical debts.
• Work with technical specialists and partners across Swiss Re to further improve existing operational processes, establish industry standard and practices for platform and infrastructure operations and monitoring
• Helping application and platform development teams with constructive feedback for developing powerful platform capabilities through cloud native solutions and infrastructure automation using DevSecOps principles and Infrastructure-as-a-Code.
• Ensure that the platform is fully compliant as per Swiss Re's cloud security and cloud governance framework and meets all the standards as per local regulatory bodies in China
• Participate and provide necessary inputs during internal and external audits
• When needed work on architectural and design proposal, validating and communicating it to wider Swiss Re architecture and management teams
• Ensure ‘voice of the customer/client’ is heard and reflected in the prioritisation of the work and focus of the respective feature from platform operations perspective

The Alibaba Cloud Platform team is part of the Swiss Re's Public Cloud Transformation organization that focuses on developing and managing a secure, compliant, and standardized cloud services and capabilities on Alibaba Cloud to support business units across Swiss Re. We'd like to welcome a team member who will be instrumental in building and enhancing the Alibaba Cloud Platform.

About you

We are happy to meet you if you possess:

• University degree in Computer Science (or comparable education/experience)
• Several years of technical experience as DevOps Engineer, Cloud Architect/Engineer
• Solid understanding of modern cloud infrastructure offerings. Designed and implemented large solutions on Public Cloud platform focusing on Infrastructure, Integration and Security.
• Technical knowledge and deep understanding of: Alibaba Public Cloud and Financial Cloud; Identity and Access Management; Cloud Networking: Virtual Networks, User Defined Routes, Network Security Groups; Network Connectivity; Load Balancing; IaaS Compute Services and High Availability solutions; Hybrid Cloud Setup; Public Cloud Security, Cloud governance for enterprises;
• Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, Infrastructure as Code with terraform or ARM Templates, PowerShell and Azure DevOps; Sophisticated CI/CD tools; Cloud Security Monitoring; Log Analytics; Data Analytics Services on Cloud
• Experienced communicator both written & verbal
• Experience in designing and implementing disaster recovery process for critical applications would be a plus.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English language; and any other language is a plus.
