As a Data Engineer II, you will be at the heart of our data transformation journey, designing and delivering best-in-class data engineering capabilities that fuel our ambition to become a truly data-driven organization. You will architect, build, and scale analytics solutions within a modern Big Data cloud infrastructure — and you'll do it with a genuine passion for democratizing data across the business and for our customers. Key Responsibilities

Collaborate with stakeholders — Work closely with Product Owners and Architects to understand requirements, formulate innovative solutions, and evaluate implementation effort with a pragmatic, delivery-focused mindset.

Build scalable data pipelines — Design, develop, and maintain robust data pipelines and transformation logic using Python/PySpark, SQL, and modern analytics platforms such as Palantir Foundry.

Deliver actionable insights — Design and implement analytics models and visualizations that translate complex data into clear, business-ready insights.

Leverage AI technologies — Utilize Palantir AIP and generative AI to enhance analytics solutions, automate workflows, and improve user experiences where appropriate.

Embrace AI-assisted development — Use tools such as GitHub Copilot or equivalent to improve development efficiency while upholding high engineering standards.

Drive innovation — Evaluate new platform capabilities, develop prototypes, and help assess their applicability within our solution landscape.

Contribute to a global team — Collaborate across a geographically distributed development team to co-design and deliver high-quality solutions in an agile environment.

Life & Health Data & Analytics Engineering is a strategic technology partner for Swiss Re's Life & Health Reinsurance division. About You
You are energized by the challenge of solving complex big data analytics problems using leading-edge technologies. You have a demonstrated ability to pick up new tools and platforms quickly — especially in the areas of AI, modern analytics, and cloud-native data engineering. You are a self-starter who takes ownership from idea to implementation, with strong problem-solving instincts and a collaborative spirit that thrives in a multicultural, global environment.
We are looking for candidates who meet these requirements:

Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in Computer Science, Data Science, or a related discipline.

3–5 years of experience working with large-scale software systems, with a focus on platforms such as Palantir Foundry, Snowflake, or Azure Databricks.

ETL/ELT pipeline development — Proven experience designing and building reusable, scalable data pipelines.

Python/PySpark proficiency — Hands-on experience using Python/PySpark for data engineering, analytics, or automation.

Strong SQL skills — Experience designing performant queries and data models, with a solid understanding of dimensional modeling and data warehousing concepts.

Collaborative development practices — Experience working with Git and Agile software delivery methodologies.

Global mindset — Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a global, multicultural environment alongside internal and external professionals.
These are additional nice to haves:

Experience building data pipelines specifically within Palantir Foundry.

Familiarity with modern analytics platforms such as Databricks, Microsoft Fabric, or Snowflake.

Experience working with large datasets on enterprise data platforms and distributed computing frameworks (Spark, Hive, or Hadoop).

Experience using Palantir AIP or other AI/LLM frameworks to develop analytics applications.

Experience integrating Large Language Models (LLMs) into analytics workflows.

Exposure to cloud environments such as AWS or Azure.

Domain knowledge in Insurance, Financial Services, or Finance functions within other industries.
Our company has a hybrid work model where the expectation is that you will be in the office at least three days per week.
