QA Engineer I
QA Engineer I
Are you passionate about quality and driven by the challenge of building world-class software experiences? Do you believe that great testing is not just about finding bugs — it's about enabling teams to ship with confidence? If so, we want to hear from you!
About the Role
As a QA Engineer I at Swiss Re, you will be at the heart of our software delivery engine — championing quality across every stage of the development lifecycle. Based in Hyderabad, you will work alongside talented engineers, product owners, and business analysts to design and execute robust testing strategies that ensure our platforms are reliable, performant, and ready for the world. This is a role for someone who brings both technical precision and a collaborative spirit — someone who is excited to help shape a culture where quality is everyone's responsibility.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate cross-functionally with Product Owners, Business Analysts, and Subject Matter Experts to deeply understand business requirements, application workflows, and user expectations — translating them into effective test strategies and scenarios.
- Design, develop, and maintain scalable UI and API automation frameworks using Selenium WebDriver/Playwright, Java, and Postman, ensuring comprehensive functional, regression, integration, and end-to-end test coverage.
- Create, execute, and maintain automated and manual test cases aligned with both functional and non-functional requirements across multiple application releases.
- Build and maintain API automation suites to validate REST services, integrations, authentication mechanisms, and complex business workflows.
- Integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines using tools such as Jenkins, Azure DevOps, and GitHub Actions to support continuous testing and release readiness.
- Analyze, document, and track defects through to resolution — partnering with development teams to identify root causes and drive effective corrective actions.
- Perform production issue investigations and root cause analysis, enhancing test coverage and automation to prevent recurring defects.
- Conduct cross-browser, cross-platform, performance, load, security, and penetration testing to ensure application reliability, scalability, and security at every level.
- Participate in design reviews, code reviews, and Agile ceremonies, actively promoting QA best practices and an automation-first quality culture across the team.
- Continuously improve automation frameworks, test coverage, execution efficiency, and overall testing effectiveness across the product portfolio.
- Leverage Generative AI and AI-assisted testing tools to accelerate test development, defect analysis, and test maintenance — while evaluating AI-powered application features for accuracy and reliability.

You thrive in fast-paced, evolving environments where ambiguity is part of the journey, and you bring both technical rigor and strategic thinking to everything you do. You communicate openly, collaborate naturally, and are genuinely excited about shaping how teams think about and practice quality. You are curious, proactive, and always looking for smarter ways to test, learn, and improve.
We Are Looking for Candidates Who Meet These Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field. 3–4 years of hands-on experience in software quality assurance and testing, with strong knowledge of both SDLC and STLC.
Proven expertise in test automation frameworks including Selenium/Playwright, Cucumber, TestNG/JUnit, and JMeter, with demonstrated experience in API testing, data validation, and integration testing.
Solid experience with API testing tools such as Postman, REST Assured, or Swagger, including validation of REST services and authentication mechanisms.
Experience integrating automated tests into CI/CD pipelines using tools such as Jenkins, Azure DevOps, or GitHub Actions.
These Are Additional Nice to Haves:
ISTQB or equivalent QA certification is a valuable plus.
Familiarity with defect tracking tools such as Jira or Azure DevOps.
Basic understanding of SQL and database testing for data validation scenarios.
Exposure to performance testing tools such as JMeter, LoadRunner, or K6. Experience with Generative AI tools such as Microsoft Copilot, GitHub Copilot, or ChatGPT for test case creation, test data generation, and productivity improvement.
Knowledge of prompt engineering fundamentals and the effective use of AI tools in software development and quality assurance.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate clearly across technical and non-technical audiences. Proficiency in English.
Our company has a hybrid work model where the expectation is that you will be in the office at least three days per week
