Senior Application Architect

Senior Application Engineering / Architect with full stack exposure, 15+ years of expertise in software development and applied architectural knowledge and principles to build high-quality applications. 

You are an experienced and hands on software engineer who has a passion for application development, loves to analyze and address various technical challenges and expertise in different architectural styles.

You understand that software development is not just coding but includes all aspects of the application right from hosting to monitoring to enable it to function effectively and have the potential and enthusiasm to be across all the components that encompass the application. 

Key Responsibilities Include

• You will be responsible for ensuring that end to end components in the application landscape are working in tandem, vulnerabilities and risks are managed and contained.

• You will be responsible for leading the architectural vision for the application, thereby also collaborating with all the team leaders to ensure a strategic and reliable roadmap is always available.

• You will also be involved in strategic development that can include hands-on coding, resolving vulnerabilities, reviewing changes and updating configs, technical debt reduction and other strategic initiatives.

•  You will work with the product, architecture and engineering teams to translate a business need into a robust and integrated technology solution to meet our Product vision and roadmap.

• You will provide your technical expertise in building applications with your focus on end-to-end data and process flow, regression and impact analysis, evaluating options and demonstrating modern cloud services aligned with the technology governance standards and current methodologies for the Sales and Origination business of Swiss Re.

Required Experience / Must Have

• 15-18 years of experience in designing, developing, and delivering software applications.
• Demonstrated experience and in creating architectural diagrams, component diagrams and integration diagrams
• 15+ years of experience with backend development using Java, REST APIs, Spring Boot
• 3+ years in node.js
• 3+ Preferred experience in the following full stack:
• Front end - Angular, TypeScript, JavaScript

• Databases (e.g. Mongo DB, PostgreSQL, cosmos DB)

• Knowledge of end-to-end architectural components such as LB, API gateway, Middleware such as Azure Service Bus and Rabbit MQ , security and governance

• Experience with solutions hosted on Azure Cloud and services offered by Azure stack.
• Exposure to Azure DevOps (Repo, Pipeline, CICD)
• Experience in agile software engineering practices with strong fundamentals
• Worked with GIT code repository.
• Leads the build, test and maintenance of the infrastructure and tools (CI/CD pipeline) to allow for the continuous process of development, integration, validation and deployment of software.
• Experience with Scrum/Agile development methodologies using JIRA or similar tools.
• Experienced in supporting application in an operational environment and aligning with business cycles.

• Ability to describe and document application architecture and processes in an easy-to-understand manner.

• Experienced working in multicultural globally distributed teams.
• Self-starter with a positive approach, who can manage their own workload.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Nice to have

• GraphQL, APIs: API design, development and API management on Azure
• Good experience in working with Azure Cloud services viz. Azure Search, Index, Azure functions, Service bus, storage accounts, VMs etc.,

• GitHub Copilot
• Bachelor's degree in engineering or master's in computer science
