In this role, you will:

• Primarily work with Alibaba Cloud , utilizing your expertise in Alibaba Cloud, AWS, or Azure Cloud, to design, develop, and maintain secure, scalable, cloud-native solutions.

About the Team

The Alibaba Platform team is part of Swiss Re’s Public Cloud Transformation department, responsible for managing Alibaba Cloud, the native cloud provider for the China market. Our focus is on maintaining a reliable and secure cloud platform, compliant with legal and regulatory requirements, ensuring data resides within mainland China. We empower Swiss Re to deliver state-of-the-art, cloud-native solutions, offering modern, secure architectures for clients and users.

Our team operates in two key areas:

• Platform Maintenance and Security – Ensuring a stable, secure, and compliant cloud infrastructure.
• Shared Services – Providing easy-to-use shared services that help internal teams and clients leverage the platform’s full capabilities.

As part of Swiss Re’s Public Cloud Transformation department, we play a critical role in driving public cloud adoption and value delivery. We work globally to deliver high-quality, secure cloud services, adhering to stringent security, compliance, and regulatory standards.

Main responsibilities:

• Serve as a key member of the Shared Services team, building and operating a standardized cloud platform on Alibaba Public Cloud.
• Develop shared and secure infrastructure capabilities, including application monitoring, security monitoring, and reporting solutions.
• Adopt an automation-first approach for infrastructure tasks, including patching, upgrades, access management, deployment, and release management.
• Develop and maintain Terraform modules for standardized infrastructure, ensuring security and protection against emerging threats.
• Define, refine, and implement business continuity solutions, including backup and disaster recovery (DR) processes.
• Ensure full compliance with Swiss Re's cloud security and cloud governance frameworks.
• Provide feedback and support to teams for cloud-native capabilities and infrastructure automation, using tools like Azure DevOps, Kubernetes, IaC, IAM, and Cloud Security Controls
• Support internal and external audits, ensuring operational excellence.
• Collaborate on architectural and design proposals, communicating with Swiss Re’s architecture and management teams.

About you

We are happy to meet you if you possess:

• University degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a comparable field, or relevant work experience.
• 8+ years of development and cloud infrastructure experience, including at least 4 years as a cloud architect, with focus on designing, development, and managing shared services.
• Strong cloud expertise with Alibaba Cloud, or transferable skills from AWS or Azure, focused on enterprise-grade cloud infrastructure solutions.
• In-depth knowledge and hands-on experience with cloud services such as Kubernetes (Docker and Helm charts), API gateways, Load Balancers, Serverless, and other cloud-native capabilities.
• Proficiency with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools, particularly Terraform.
• Experience in programming languages and tools, preferably including Python, Bash/Shell Script, and Java is a plus.
• A strong understanding of cloud security at both application and network levels, contributing to cloud security standards.
• The ability to architect and design shared platform services on cloud platforms, focusing on multi-tenancy, logging, monitoring, availability, performance, resilience, and identity-based authentication.
