About the position 

Senior Application Engineer – Full Stack will combine design thinking techniques, software development, business domain know how and apply agile architecture principles to build high-quality Full-Stack applications. You are experienced Full-stack Engineer who has passion for application development, loves to analyze and tackle various technical challenges on the way. You will work with the business product owner, architecture and engineering teams to translate a business need into a robust and integrated technology solution to meet the Product vision and roadmap. You will provide your technical expertise in building full stack application leveraging modern cloud services aligned with the technology governance standards and current methodologies for the Life & Health (L&H) Solutions business of Swiss Re. In this role, you will also be responsible for collaborating with global teams and external partners during all phases of the product development lifecycle.  

 

Your responsibilities include: 

  • Design, development and creation of proof of concept for our product application solutions. 

  • Be in charge to design, maintain and extend application architectures artifacts. 

  • Participate in Design & Code reviews and actively engage in Review sessions. 

  • Collaborate with peers to drive the full-stack application architecture best practices leveraging the modern cloud services for our product portfolio. 

  • Keep up with technology trends and identify promising new solutions that meet our requirements. 

  • Provides hands-on troubleshooting and consulting for solution challenges when needed 

  • Defining/improving standard methodologies for building, testing and deploying of applications 

 

About the Team 

  

We are the Product Architecture team for CIDO L&H Solutions business of Swiss Re. We are responsible for establishing the product Architecture Standards, Engineering Guidelines and its Governance. Additionally, we own the Strategic Technology Roadmaps which will be evolving with the emerging trends and at the same time is aligned to needs of the L&H products and our customers. We leverage cloud native, multi-tenant architecture and Swiss Re's expansive data lake with its AI/ML & Analytical Data Models to create innovative & insightful products. We are passionate about technology and eager to learn on the go. We closely collaborate with product management, engineering teams and colleagues around the globe to share knowledge and engineer simple yet effective solutions. 

 

Qualifications 

Experience Required 

  • University Degree in Computer Sciences or similar IT related fields 

  • Experience in Cloud Application Architecture 

  • 6+ years experience relevant to this position 

  • 4+ years of experience with Front-end Web development, preferably Angular JS, React JS, HTML 5, CSS and responsive front-end development with modern UI/UX 

  • 4+ years of experience in one or more of the following: 

  • Programming languages and backend frameworks: Node.js, C#, Golang, Spring Boot and Python (added advantage) 

  • Database: MS SQL Server, PostgreSQL DB, Oracle 

  • APIs: API design, development and API management on Azure  

  • Experience in headless content management platforms like strapi.io 

  • Experience working with Angular Material UI 

  • Experience in integrating with web analytics frameworks like HEAP, Google Analytics etc. 

  • Experience in developing scalable and highly available application solution leveraging cloud services like dynamic scaling, Cloudflare and caching technologies 

  • Experience in one or more web/application servers such as WebLogic, Tomcat, JBoss, Internet Information Services, NGINX, Apache, etc 

  • Experience in Microservices Architectures 

  • Experience using integrated development environments (e.g., Visual Studio, Visual Studio Code, Eclipse, XCode) 

  • Experience in containerization & deployment of applications using Docker and/or Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS) 

  • Exposure to Azure DevOps (Repo, Pipeline, CICD) 

  • Experience in agile software engineering practices with strong fundamentals 

  • Strong analytical skills, and address problems in a structured way, joining your own creative ideas and those of others. 

  • Good communication (written, verbal, and presentation) skills 

  • Proven experience in collaborating and working with global business stakeholders. 

  • Ability to describe and document application architecture and processes in an easy-to-understand manner. 

  • Prior experience working in an Insurtech, insurance and/or product development organization a plus
