About the Role
As an Actuarial Analyst in Regulatory Operations, you will play a central role in managing and overseeing actuarial rate and rating rule regulatory compliance filings for Corporate Solutions U.S. Market Unit. This is a high-visibility role where your analytical expertise, communication skills, and collaborative spirit will directly influence business outcomes, regulatory relationships, and strategic initiatives. Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage rate and rating rule filings, rating factor adjustments, and rate implementation processes across multiple states, systems and lines of business
- Mentor and support the globally located Actuarial Services Unit (ASU) staff in Bangalore, India, providing guidance, solutions, and oversight on all ASU projects and deliverables
- Oversee and drive database creation and the ongoing update of generic filing templates to ensure accuracy and efficiency
- Negotiate with Departments of Insurance (DOIs) and coordinate with pricing actuaries to develop and deliver effective rate objection responses
- Lead rate filing planning discussions and proactively communicate updates to key stakeholders including IT, Underwriting, and Products teams
- Develop and apply in-depth knowledge of internal and external data sources, analytical tools, and actuarial methods to continuously enhance rate filing tools and processes
- Implement and manage the compliance rate audit process for all business units in the CorSo North America region, including new products and platforms
- Analyze, interpret, and communicate annual by-state, by-line-of-business rate indication analyses, rate implementations, and impact calculations
- Drive special projects in collaboration with the Pricing Actuarial Department, providing actuarial support around rate adequacy factors such as LCMs and trends
- Contribute to strategic initiatives and new product development within Corporate Solutions
About the Team
The Regulatory Operations Actuarial Services Unit is a dynamic and collaborative team within Operations Corporate Solutions at Swiss Re. The team is responsible for overseeing actuarial rate and rating rule regulatory compliance filings across Corporate Solutions U.S. Market Unit, ensuring that all rate actions meet regulatory requirements across states and lines of business. Working closely with pricing actuaries, IT, underwriting, and a globally distributed team including offshore resources in Bangalore, the team plays a critical role in maintaining compliance integrity, driving regulatory audit processes, and supporting strategic pricing initiatives across the CorSo U.S. portfolio.

We are looking for candidates who meet these requirements:
- Minimum three years of work experience in actuarial activities, with demonstrated expertise in rate filings, regulatory compliance, or related mathematics areas
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Access, Visual Basic, and Power BI, with strong overall computer skills including Word, SharePoint, PowerPoint, and Outlook
- Ability to work both independently and in a team environment
- Strong knowledge of actuarial or mathematical methods and analytical tools, including the ability to develop and enhance rate filing tools using internal and external data sources
- Proven written and oral communication skills, with the ability to negotiate skillfully with regulatory bodies (DOIs) and communicate effectively with senior stakeholders
- Experience managing or mentoring teams, including the ability to work with globally located or offshore team members and manage distributed workloads
These are additional nice to haves:
- Progress toward or completion of Casualty Actuarial Society (CAS) exams or other relevant insurance industry designations (e.g., CPCU)
- College degree in Mathematics, Actuarial Science, or a related quantitative field
- Familiarity with insurance regulatory environments across multiple U.S. states and territories
- Experience working with outsourced or offshore resources in a structured delivery model
- Ability to represent an organization at industry meetings and contribute to external forums
- Experience contributing to new product development or strategic product initiatives within a commercial insurance environment
The role will be located in our Kansas City, MO office. Our company uses a hybrid work model requiring at least three days in the office each week, with the option to work onsite full-time if preferred. This position is not eligible for full-time telework, relocation assistance or visa sponsorship.
The estimated base salary range for this position is $76,000 to $114,000. The specific salary offered for this, or any given role will take into account a number of factors including but not limited to job location, scope of role, qualifications, complexity/specialization/scarcity of talent, experience, education, and employer budget. At Swiss Re, we take a "total compensation approach" when making compensation decisions. This means that we consider all components of compensation in their totality (such as base pay, short- and long-term incentives, and benefits offered), in setting individual compensation.
